It has been speculated for some time that, in an effort to add a little sizzle to the main event match at Survivor Series, WWE might add a special guest referee. Rumors were that Jinder Mahal versus Brock Lesnar might not be enough of a match on its own and that a big name like The Rock, Goldberg or John Cena would be what the match needed to get the viewers to tune in.

** SPOILER**

Whether that belief is accurate or not remains to be seen but what has been confirmed is that the WWE is, in fact, going to add a special guest ref to the bout and that ref is none other than John Cena.

As you can see from the leaked WWE poster for the pay-per-view, John Cena is front and center. The idea is to have Cena reffing the match and eventually feuding with Mahal and clashing at a show down the line where Cena will win his 17th World Championship.

It's also interesting to note that part of Team Raw is Roman Reigns. Not yet returned from a viral infection that forced him to miss the TLC pay-per-view, The Shield have been wrestling without the "Big Dog" and including honorary members like Kurt Angle and Triple H in Reigns's absence.

Team Raw now looks to consist of Kurt Angle, Reigns, and Finn Balor and the recently announced Braun Strowman (who did not make the poster). They'll be taking on Shane McMahon, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, and what now looks like AJ Styles with another member to come. One more WWE Superstar needs to be announced for both teams.

The question is, will Cena's addition to the match take away from the heat that is what Brock Lesnar and Jinder Mahal are building? Does it also mean that Cena will be more involved in WWE programming after Survivor Series?

There will be many takes on both sides of this argument. Some will suggest that its time Cena moves on while others will say that anyone, including Cena, is a better option than keeping Mahal as the current champion.
