Friday night on SmackDown, the long-awaited return of John Morrison to WWE became a reality. He returned to WWE during the two-hour broadcast helping The Miz deal with what looks to be a heel turn.

Morrison was officially added back to the WWE roster a few weeks ago when his impending return was announced on WWE Backstage. He appeared in a number of WWE videos and on talk shows like The Bump, but where he was going to return was actually a mystery. Some theories suggested he might return to Raw and help Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe while many fans were hoping he'd become a part of NXT's roster where his in-ring style might be a natural fit. Instead, he’ll join the Fox roster where he’ll be one of a number of key players for the company.

Earlier reports surfaced on Friday that Morrison was in Memphis, the site of Friday’s program. Mike Johnson of PWinsider.com said, “John Morrison is in Memphis, the site of tonight’s SmackDown broadcast.” Morrison was also part of a post by WWE on Fox earlier Friday which teased him as a member of the Royal Rumble, obviously creating speculation he would appear before the PPV and that Fox might have the inside track on that information.

Is Morrison and SmackDown a Good Fit?

Now that he’s officially part of the roster, there will be heavy debate about whether or not this is the best locale for Morrisson’s talents. There are plenty of great in-ring performers Johnny SmackDown can now showcase his talents against but he could have made more of an impact (no pun intended) on another brand.

Time will tell. We’re just glad to see Morrison back and we're stoked about a potential reunion between The Miz and Morrison who were at one time, a formidable tag team. We were getting tired of waiting already knowing he was back with WWE.
