Brock Lesnar has been absent from WWE ever since his win in a champion versus champion match against SmackDown Live's AJ Styles. What's more is The Beast Incarnate hasn't defended his Universal Championship since October when he put the gold up for grabs against The Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman.
It's almost nailed on at this point that Brock Lesnar will be keeping hold of his Universal Championship until WrestleMania 34 by which point he will have held the title for a full year. While the match itself hasn't been booked, it is looking highly likely that Roman Reigns will be the man to take that title from Lesnar in New Orleans. So what is on the docket for Brock between now and then?
Well WWE decided to try and decide Brock's next challenger this week on Raw. A match between Braun Strowman and Kane was already set for the show, so they decided to make that monstrous match up a number one contender's match. The winner of the literally massive main event would go on to face the Universal Champion at next month's Royal Rumble pay per view.
The trouble is Raw has come and gone yet we are still none the wiser as to who will face Lesnar next. As per usual when it comes to Raw's resident monsters, the pair of them got a little carried away and while battling outside the ring they managed to get themselves counted out. Although no contender to the Universal Title was decided, that didn't stop Kane and Strowman continuing their battle after the match had been declared a draw. The two of them got a litany of weapons involved and the chaos finally came to an end when Strowman powerslammed Kane through a table.
Before the match began it was announced that Brock Lesnar will be on Raw next week, presumably to confront his new challenger. Well sorry Brock but as of right now that's going to be a wasted trip. What WWE has in mind going forward with this angle remains unclear, but the presence of the champ will hopefully further the storyline and help make the road to Royal Rumble a little clearer.
