Kenny Omega Vs Chris Jericho Lives Up To The Hype

Kenny Omega defeated Chris Jericho at Wrestle Kingdom 12 in a match that was every bit as awesome as the build-up promised it to be.

It's the match that the entire pro wrestling world has been talking about for months now. Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega in a no disqualification bout for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. It all began when Y2J unexpectedly interrupted an Omega promo what feels like a lifetime ago now, and came to a head at Wrestle Kingdom 12.

As Jericho made his way to the ring you could tell that this was the match everybody in the Tokyo Dome had been waiting to see. Despite already sitting through a pretty long show the crowd was absolutely electric. Y2J came to the ring to Judas by Fozzy and was followed by Omega who was dressed in an elaborate costume for the occasion and had The Young Bucks in his corner.

It didn't take long for things to boil over as the two competitors had to be dragged apart before the match had even begun. Iconic referee Red Shoes wasn't happy with Omega having The Bucks in his corner and that just started the all-out chaos before the bell. It didn't compare to what would come after however. The whole premise of this matchup was that both men claim to be the best in the world, hence Alpha versus Omega, and they certainly proved that they should at least be in that conversation at Wrestle Kingdom.

The match went on for almost half an hour and was pretty much breathless. There was blood—mostly Omega's—broken tables, chair shots, and The Cleaner even sprayed cold spray into his opponent's eyes. It was The Ayatollah of RockN' Rolla who wound up not being able to survive the brutality, however. After an incredible match, it was Omega who had his hand raised. The US Champion finished Jericho off with a One-Winged Angel, a move that nobody has managed to kick out of up until this point in time.

The only question that remains unanswered is what's next for these two Winnipeg boys. Based on how good their Wrestle Kingdom match was, you would have to imagine that a rematch is on the cards for the two of them somewhere down the line. Where will it happen though? Could the next time we see them clash be inside a WWE ring? Here's hoping that happens or that at the very least the rivalry between these two isn't done yet.
