Kevin Owens is currently working through a back injury but apparently, that will not stop him from wrestling at the Royal Rumble this weekend.

The Royal Rumble pay-per-view this weekend isn't all about the two 30 person matches that will be taking place, although they are the main attractions of course. There will also be a few title matches filling the card and one of the most interesting of those matchups will be the one for the WWE Championship, a handicap match pitting AJ Styles against the team of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

The Phenomenal One has been unwillingly dragged into the chaos that is the top of the card on SmackDown Live. It began with a simple rivalry between KO and Shane McMahon, Sami Zayn got himself involved, as did Daniel Bryan, and somehow that has led us to Sunday night where Styles will have to defend his championship against two men.

Fans would be right to be concerned that the match may not go ahead as planned, however. Owens hasn't competed in the ring since he and Zayn went up against Styles, Randy Orton, and Shinsuke Nakamura in a three-on-two handicap match a few weeks ago. That's because The Prizefighter has been trying to battle through a back injury in hopes that it won't keep him sidelined for too long.

According to PWInsider, the back injury will not stop Owens from taking part in the WWE Title match, as of right now anyway. KO was kept off of the blue brand's house shows this past weekend and neither he or Zayn were among the SmackDown Live Superstars who attended Raw's 25th anniversary on Monday night. In all fairness, not attending the event is in keeping with their on-screen characters right now so may be unrelated to KO's back injury.

The severity of Kevin Owens' back injury will likely become clearer tonight on SmackDown Live. If the former Universal Champion is there then great, if he is wrestling in a match then even better. Chances are though even if KO is ready and raring to go WWE may keep him on the sidelines tonight just to be on the safe side so that he is 100 percent for the Royal Rumble.
