WWE champion Kofi Kingston has weighed in on the rivalry brewing between WWE and All Elite Wrestling, sort of.

The SmackDown star says he's not paying much attention as he's trying to be the best champion he could be and doesn't have time for much else but he's all for the competition as it brings out the best from everyone.

Kofi spoke to Sports Illustrated recently, voicing the above sentiments and adding that Cody Rhodes is doing something special as he's giving lots of people opportunities.

“I think it’s great to have competition and it’s awesome, especially Cody [Rhodes], I know him very well and he’s out there doing something special and giving an opportunity to a lot of other people," the WWE champ remarked. "Kudos to that. But for me, I’m so busy trying to do so much significant stuff trying to be the best WWE Champion that I don’t really have time to watch other wrestling. But I’m all for competition. It brings out the best in everybody.”

The WWE superstar also commented on the rise of social media and the impact it has on wrestling and its fans. Kofi says supporters want to go behind the scenes with wrestlers and the avenue has handed them a platform to give the people what they want.

"Back in the day, that wasn’t possible," he explained. "To have an inside look at a day in the life of a WWE Superstar. Even with Xavier Woods and the UpUpDownDown channel, you get to see people outside of their characters. That’s what people want to see.

"They want to see what we do beyond the scope of what we do on television. I think it’s a great thing overall. If people have an issue with the way things are going, just run your own promotion, you can do whatever you want. I think it’s great. Fan participation is always a positive thing.”

Kofi Might Not Have A Choice Soon

AEW has created a bit of a buzz ahead of their TV debut but things aren't full swing yet and Kofi could be made to pay some real attention in the coming months - plus he won't be champion forever, so he might as well.
