It is officially Royal Rumble season in WWE, which means that the company begins announcing the legends who will take their place among wrestling's elite this year.
Many rumours have beeN making the rounds about possible inductees, but WWE themselves have announced that Kurt Angle will be the one headlining the class of 2017 and take his place in the Hall of Fame the night before WrestleMania 33 in April.
Angle will become just the second man to be given the honour of being inducted into both the WWE and TNA Hall of Fames. He stated that he heard the news this afternoon from Triple H himself, who rang the former two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and told him that he was about become a WWE Hall of Famer:
"I figured they either decided they didn’t want to do anything with me or they forgot. Hunter said they never forgot and he called and told me this is the first thing they want to do. And whether I wrestle or not after this — which is irrelevant right now — I’m just really proud to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame."
Angle left WWE back in 2006 after losing the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22 and spending some time in ECW. He was one of WWE's biggest stars prior to leaving and heading over to TNA. Kurt has always been popular with WWE fans (even while they were chanting "You Suck") so it should please many that Angle will FINALLY reappear in WWE and take his rightful spot in the Hall of Fame.
