Kurt Angle recently was interviewed by Sports Illustrated where he opened up about trying to negotiate a WWE return with Vince McMahon and/or Triple H. Angle was a free agent late in 2014 and was also recovering from a torn ACL. As his wreslting career is winding down, he was interested in finishing his career where it started. However, the interest wasn't there from the other side.
“Paul [Levesque] is in charge,” said Angle. “I found that out when I contacted Vince. I’ve always had a good relationship with Paul, so I didn’t consider that a problem. But he decided they had enough talent.
“For the Vince McMahon who I knew, enough was never enough. He always wanted more. I don’t know what was going on over there, but they even canceled our meeting. I never went to see them. They didn’t even sit me down and talk to me. It blew my mind. It was as if I was a nobody, that I wasn’t Kurt Angle.”
Well of course the WWE doesn't have room for a guy in his 40's like Angle. They need Big Show and Kane on their program as often as humanly possible, so there's clearly not a spot for an Olympic Gold Medalist and perhaps the best technical wrestler of the 21st century.
Angle continued the interview saying TNA has taken care of him and stayed loyal. He's unsure whether he'd ever go back to WWE, which is a damn shame for us fans.
