Former WWE superstar Kurt Angle has reportedly taken up the role of a producer on the promotion's flagship Monday Night Raw show.

The Hall of Famer hardly went out in the blaze of glory, bowing out to Baron Corbin at this year's WrestleMania in quite the subdued farewell. And, according to PWInsider, he has been appointed as a producer on the Raw Brand.

Angle is said to have been observing other WWE producers after retiring in order to gain familiarity with the job. However, he began working in a full-time role a few weeks ago.

The 50-year-old left questions in the air after he shared a picture on Instagram of himself backstage at Monday's Raw at Madison Square Garden before the show started and the source is claiming that his appointment is the reason he was around.

It was Vince McMahon's intention to have Angle fight for another year and give him his sendoff at WrestleMania 36 next April but the veteran didn't feel like putting his body through another grueling 12 months and made the decision to call it quits earlier this year.

Many fans still think pitting him against Corbin for his last match was an insult and we would not disagree. However, he has maintained a presence with WWE since stepping away from in-ring competition and his influence could continue to be felt.

Angle has admitted that Baron was not the opponent he imagined he'd face in his last match but says WWE didn't have much of a choice.

"Baron and I had been doing a program for a year now. I decided that I wanted to retire at WrestleMania, so I kind of put Vince McMahon in a position," he explained in an interview with Wrestling Inc back in May.

"What does he do? Does he go with Barcon Corbin - who I was supposed to go with - or do we change it up to John Cena, AJ Styles, or whoever else. It wasn’t really anyone’s fault, it was just the timing was Baron Corbin and it was the right decision.”

It's Great To See Angle Still Playing An Active Role In WWE

Despite the opinions on that infamous match against Corbin, it's great to know that someone like Angle has found a place within the company with such a quick and seamless transition.

Now let's see what he could co backstage.
