Rumors are circulating that Kurt Angle may very well return to in ring-action as early as SummerSlam or Survivor Series later this year.
The pro wrestling rumor mill is always a busy one, and this past weekend it was hard at work with the speculation that Kurt Angle may return to the ring for WWE as soon as SummerSlam, an event that is less than two months away. While it was assumed that if Kurt was going to be allowed to wrestle for WWE it wouldn't be until WrestleMania 34 next year, it is now being suggested that the biggest show of the summer - or failing that Survivor Series in November - will play host to Angle's in ring return.
Kurt Angle was welcomed back into the WWE fold earlier this year when he headlined the 2017 Hall of Fame class. Although he's a four time WWE Champion and made a name for himself in pro wrestling in WWE, he left the company. During the 11 years he was away he wrestled for TNA as well as on the independent circuit, all the way up until he returned to WWE to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and become Raw General Manager.
While there is no match or opponent confirmed and it isn't definite that Angle will compete in a WWE ring at all, Cageside Seats reported the whispers as a part of their Rumor Roundup on Monday. They claimed that the rumors suggest Kurt may return to the ring and we may not have to wait as long we thought we would to see him wrestle again.
Before Kurt Angle's return to WWE was officially announced, there were rumors that the Olympic gold medalist was coming back. When it comes to Angle rumors coming true, then, there is reason to be optimistic. If it does occur the next question is, who will his opponent be? While the story line between himself and Corey Graves lends itself to a match with a returning Triple H, there are plenty of names fans would love to see Kurt step into the ring with, whether they be old foes or new opponents.
Much like Daniel Bryan, WWE are probably reluctant to let Kurt perform in the ring again considering his previous injuries. The Raw GM has broken his neck on a number of occasions and while they haven't medically tested Kurt to see if he's ring ready - at least not publicly - it's probably safe to assume that Vince McMahon is not 100% sure as to whether he wants to have Angle wrestle for him again.
