If Lana was looking to get attention and play the heel role better than most, her recent statement on Twitter proves she’s got a good handle on the gig.

While not every WWE fan loves the storyline that includes Lana, Bobby Lashley, Rusev and Liv Morgan, one thing that’s hard to argue is how well Lana has played the annoying heel character and gotten fans to loathe her persona. Late Wednesday, she found another way to get fans to like her even less.

Lana took to Twitter and made the outlandish statement that she’s the greatest WWE star in history. Then, in true heel fashion, she corrected herself, went one step further and said she was the greatest “star” in history.

Proving she knew how to strike a nerve, she got close to 1000 responses from people calling her out for the remarks.

Considering performers and stars both past and present includes a variety of genres and industries, that's a pretty big statement. That she's put herself up there with the likes of Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, Dwayne Johnson, Oprah Winfrey, Brad Pitt, and Michael Jackson, she’s sort of asking for it from fans. Even in the wrestling business alone, suggesting she's in the same space as Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin, she’s bound to ruffle some feathers.

Fans were quick to comment on her post and blast Lana for making such a claim. Most of the responses were .gifs of disapproval or shock that she would even go there, many followers posting photos of WWE stars they preferred. But, credit where credit is due, the statement fits perfectly well with her character and she's drawing attention to the heel side of her gimmick.

She later posted another tweet and doubled-down when she said, "I am the best and no, I ain't positive, I'm definite."

Lana Understands Her Role

You might not like Lana, but that’s the way it’s supposed to work. If you find her annoying, arrogant, or conceited, she’s doing something right. And, there’s no quicker way to get yourself hated than saying your the biggest star in a business that’s had some pretty big names come through it.

The idea isn’t that you think she’s right, only that you hate she said it. The more negative comments, the more she knows she stuck a nerve and that’s the idea behind her character.
