Lita recently gave some insight on the possibility of Tag Team Championships being added to the women's division in WWE sometime soon.

The women's division in WWE has come on leaps and bounds over the last few years. We have seen the term Divas scrapped and the return of the Women's Championship in the process. Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair became the first women to headline a WWE pay-per-view along with being the first women of their gender to step inside Hell In A Cell. Then on top of all, that earlier this year we witnessed the first-ever women's Money In The Bank match.

WWE has made it very clear that they are not done yet though. This summer, Full Sail played host to the Mae Young Classic, a 32-women tournament with Superstars from all over the world. Right now in the company, there are three Women's Championships up for grabs, the Raw, SmackDown, and NXT titles. With more women on the roster than ever though, and others joining all the time, three titles may not be enough.

There is certainly an argument to be made that the women's division will soon be in a place where it could accommodate a set of Tag Team Championships. Former Women's Champion Lita certainly seems to think so. Ringside News reported on a Q&A the WWE Hall of Famer took part in on her recent trip to Paris and during the session, Lita said that she would love to see tag titles added to the women's division. She did also add that for it to happen WWE will need to call up more women from NXT as well as some of the competitors in the Mae Young Classic.

The number of women on Raw and SmackDown Live may still seem relatively small in relation to the men on the roster, but WWE is already at a point where they're struggling to find roles for them all. A lot of the time they're reverting to lumping them all into one angle which is a step backward in regards to the progress they've made. With an influx of more women coming soon, an extra championship seems like a necessity at this point.

On the other hand, it can feel like there are too many championships in WWE as it is. From Raw to SmackDown Live to NXT there are currently 13 championships in the company so the addition of another seems crazy. WWE need to weigh that up against the need for the women to have more to do and decide which way to go when it comes to adding a new title.
