SummerSlam is one of the biggest wrestling events of the year, and over the years, there have been countless amazing matches. Some have been short, and others have been long, with many countless classic rivalries being pushed out at this event.

While long periods of time don't always result in great matches when it comes to SummerSlam, the vast majority of the longer matches resulted in classics, as this list will highlight.

10 Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk - 2013 (25:17)

Brock Lesnar doesn't often wrestle long periods of time, but when he is invested in a match, it always results in great moments. The Beast is fantastic when he has a great opponent, especially when the storyline is detailed like this.

With a No Disqualification stipulation, the two men really went physical and tore each other apart. CM Punk was able to use a variety of weapons to really push Brock to his limits as they showed the world just how talented they are.

9 British Bulldog vs. Bret Hart - 1992 (25:40)

When it comes to classic SummerSlam matches, this match is often at the top of the list. Taking place at Wembley Stadium in London, England, the atmosphere and setting were incredibly special for this one.

With the fans firmly behind the British Bulldog, the two wrestling legends put together a clinic. It was a fantastic back and forth match that really wowed audiences throughout, making the most of all the time they had.

8 The Undertaker vs. Mankind - 1996 (26:40)

The Undertaker and Mankind have competed in all manner of stipulations throughout the years, but in 1996 they took it to a new level with a boiler room brawl match.

The match was absolutely insane, but of course, with two men as talented as Undertaker and Mick Foley, they had no problem making it incredibly entertaining. Getting plenty of time to tell the story, they didn't mess around in making this a success.

7 The Undertaker vs Edge - 2008 (26:43)

Whenever there is a Hell in a Cell stipulation, the match is always going to last quite a while, and that was the case with this one. When matches in this stipulation are done right, they can be fantastic, and this one was certainly done right.

WWE had created a great feud between two top tier talents who clearly hated each other, making the stipulation feel worthwhile. They took the fight to each other, utilizing their surroundings, which created a fantastic and unforgettable clash.

6 Daniel Bryan vs. John Cena - 2013 (26:55)

The main event of 2013's SummerSlam was truly an epic one as John Cena put his WWE World Championship on the line against Daniel Bryan. They had an amazing match together in front of a red hot crowd as Bryan finally won the big one.

While Randy Orton's Money would soon ruin his epic moment in the Bank cash-in, that doesn't stop this match standing alone as a great moment. They utilized their time to full effect with nothing ever dragging on, which allowed them to keep the audience firmly invested.

5 Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels - 2002 (27:50)

Triple H and Shawn Michaels have had some amazing matches throughout their careers, but this remains one of the best either man has ever had. A red hot feud between former friends turned bitter enemies, this unsanctioned match was truly fantastic.

While the physical violence of this match and the epic storytelling are impressive enough, the fact this was Shawn's first PPV bout since returning from a four-year absence makes it even more epic.

4 The Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage - 1992 (28:00)

Some wrestling fans might complain that The Ultimate Warrior wasn't a great in-ring worker, but this match is proof against that. WWE had its two biggest names who were full of charisma and star power collide at SummerSlam in England, and they put on a great match.

Even though the match ended in a count-out, it didn't hurt things overall. The huge personalities involved helped to get this match over with fans, creating an epic encounter.

3 The Undertaker vs. Bret Hart - 1997 (28:10)

The two men who appear the most on this list also had one of SummerSlam's longest ever matches against each other. The Undertaker's feud with the Hitman was a great one, mainly because it allowed the Deadman to prove just how good of a wrestler he was.

It wasn't all about just playing the gimmick when wrestling against Bret Hart, and Undertaker really got to work. He showed how agile he was as a big man by being able to hang with Hart, and they had a superb match together.

2 Bret Hart vs Owen Hart - 1994 (32:22)

Bret and Owen Hart are often considered to be amongst the very best technical wrestlers of all time. Therefore giving them over 30 minutes to work together was always going to create something special.

Add in a cage match stipulation to their talent, and this was always going to be good. There were amazing grappling, brilliant counters, and some fantastic submissions and near falls to help make this a great match.

1 Team Nexus vs Team WWE - 2010 (35:15)

While the vast majority of the matches on this list are considered to be classics, the longest match in SummerSlam history certainly is not. This is a moment a lot of fans talk about in a negative light as this was the moment that John Cena didn't put over Nexus.

As the hot new faction on the scene, Nexus should have been groundbreaking and game-changing. However, the result of this match stopped that, and the outcome actually tainted what is otherwise a fairly entertaining bout.
