NXT has been knocking it out of the park for years now with their Takeover live specials. After Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Johnny Gargano wrestled a 5-star match in the latest edition, they needed to do something huge to top it in New Orleans and they’ve definitely done that. Reports from Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio suggest that Andrade was meant to defend against Lars Sullivan in the main event, but plans have changed, and he’s now scheduled to do battle with the undefeated, mercurial Aleister Black.

It’s hard to say when NXT changed their mind on this, but it’s being reported that Sullivan hasn’t been at the Performance Center as of late. There hasn’t been an official word from WWE on the reason why yet. From our perspective, this change is certainly the best option, as Sullivan just isn’t ready to carry the torch at the top of the brand. Aleister Black has been the best performer in NXT since his debut, so the clash vs. Almas is set to be a huge one.

We aren’t sure if they can match the Takeover: Philadelphia main event, but both Black and Almas are incredibly talented. If the story is as hot as reports from the taping suggest, it could be back-to-back 5-star matches. The rest of the card is looking huge too with Gargano vs. Ciampa having nuclear heat on their rivalry (Gargano did just lose a match which stipulated he’d leave NXT, but they won’t pass up this opportunity). Other great matches are being set up as well so it’s looking like another barn-burner.

So what do you guys think? Should Sullivan be pushed quick like reports are suggest NXT want too? Is Black vs. Almas the right call? What other matches do you want to see on the card? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments below.
