The road to WrestleMania 33 begins with what could be the most unpredictable Royal Rumble of all time. No matter what happens booking wise, the main card of WrestleMania hinges on the results of the Rumble and according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are many matches set in place as of now. Here is the card according to them, though it is subject to change:
Undertaker vs Roman Reigns
John Cena vs Samoa Joe
Kevin Owens vs Chris Jericho
AJ Styles vs Shane McMahon
Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar
Triple H vs Seth Rollins
Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton
Charlotte vs Nia Jax vs Sasha Banks vs Bayley
Shaq vs Big Show
What's interesting is the plan was for Undertaker vs John Cena this year but that's changed, as we can see with The Undertaker now showing up on RAW. The Deadman will likely face Reigns who could be the new Universal Champion while Cena vs Samoa Joe has been pitched as well reportedly.
At least four of these matches seem to be set in stone, while many notable superstars are without a major match such as Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, Braun Strowman, Sami Zayn and Rusev. SmackDown could have their women's division also feature in a multiple women match for the title while there are talks on Wyatt potentially winning the WWE title at Elimination Chamber, leading to a title match with Orton who could win the Rumble. Lastly, this news also begs the question on whether Kurt Angle will have a role at WrestleMania while Shinsuke Nakamura and Finn Balor (if he returns in time) have no match in place as of now.
Regardless of what happens, the WrestleMania 33 card is really stacked.
