Professional wrestling, as the writers often put it, is a strange business. The wrestlers travel with their colleagues, sharing hotel rooms, eating out, go clubbing and sometimes, give in to certain temptations. Wrestlers of the yesteryear, in particular, led wild lifestyles, as they often married women outside the industry and stayed away from them more than 250 days a year.

Staying away from one’s spouse makes a person do a lot of forgettable things, and married wrestlers are no exception. They have, thus, done a lot of what the society considers immoral while they’re on the road. While most wrestlers have elected not to comment on their escapades on the road, with Chris Jericho, Bray Wyatt and John Cena recent prime examples of those who’ve kept mum about rumours about their infidelity, many older wrestlers have come clean, in an attempt to right the numerous wrongs they’ve committed.

The following article lists 15 married wrestlers’ confessions of what they did on the road. If you know a surprising confession a married wrestler has made, drop those in the comments’ section, and share the article with your wrestling-fan friends should you enjoy it. There certainly are a lot of juicy stories to go through.

15 Kurt Angle gives in to a stalker

via wwe.com/pinterest.com

Several rumors have discussed Kurt Angle’s extramarital escapades with fellow wrestlers Dawn Marie and Jacqueline while he was still married to Karen Smedley (now known as Karen Jarrett). However, he didn’t just stop with his colleagues who were also deprived of the comfort that love offers while they’re on the road, for he even elected to sleep with a stalker. The stalker, Deann Siden, was later arrested for allegedly harassing him, following him on the road, calling his hotel and home, cancelling his airline reservations, falsely claiming she was carrying his baby, and even threatening his family. Although his stalker being arrested hit the news in May 2003, he never commented on the issue until he admitted to sleeping with her on television show The Real Angle, produced by Horizon Entertainment, in August 2008.

14 Jake Roberts blading for the wrong reason

via wwe.com

Jake Roberts has been in numerous hardcore matches, but the first time he bladed was to cover up cheating on his wife, as he’d otherwise be left without an answer when she asked why he was late after work. “I decided I was going to gig myself and tell my old lady [that] coming out of the arena, somebody hit me with something,” he opened up while talking on The Steve Austin Show. “I'll get out of this s---, so I stopped at a K&B drugstore and got Platinum Plus [razorblades], which was the wrong s---, big old thick blade, and cut myself.” While his wife bought his story, the late Dusty Rhodes called him out, stating his wound looked more like a blade job than an injury caused by a bottle. Thankfully, The Snake has now sobered up, obviously with the timely help of Chris Jericho-endorsed DDP Yoga.

13 Sting straying while travelling with WCW

via tumblr.com

Sting commands a great deal of respect amongst the internet wrestling fans. However, much like Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan and most wrestlers from the ‘90s, he did a lot of regrettable things during his prime. During his WCW prime, infidelity joined hands with his drug and alcohol problem and, in an effort to save his marriage, he took a brief hiatus to come clean to his wife. While his then-wife Sue Borden forgave him and ensured their marriage could survive his unfaithfulness, his telling her about the infidelities of colleagues Rick Steiner and Lex Luger ended their marriages, as she’d go on to tell their spouses what they’d been doing on the road. Unfortunately, the marriage ended in 2010, with Sting marrying a woman named Sabine Glenn five years later.

12 Bret Hart's (Literally) An Open Book

via wwe.com

Much like Sting, Bret Hart is held in high regard by the fans, save for the Seth Rollins fanatics. Again, akin to Sting, he was poor at staying loyal to his wife. While the wrestling insiders knew of his extramarital escapades, it wasn't until he released his tell-all autobiography titled Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling that an average fan came to know how bad a husband he was.

Although he’d divorced Julie Smadu, whom he’d been cheating on, at the time of writing the book, the fact that his words didn’t bear a semblance of guilt didn’t bode well. Hart was very open about all his transgressions in his book, and admitted that while he was able to avoid many temptations on the road, women and loneliness were always his weaknesses, and so he succumbed to just about any opportunity on the road to spend the night with another lady.

11 Chris Jericho Tries To Kiss The Undertaker

via cagesideseats.com

Enough of the married wrestlers’ cheating on their wives stories – here’s a light confession from a married wrestler that involves two married wrestlers. One of the involved wrestlers, Chris Jericho, told Steve Austin this incident in his first-ever Talk is Jericho episode. Apparently, The Undertaker and Chris Jericho hit a bar after work in Tokyo, where a tipsy Y2J tried convincing The Undertaker for three hours to let him kiss The Phenom on his lips. The Deadman eventually gave in, although he only let him kiss on his cheeks. With The Undertaker being unmarried only for four years since signing for WWE and Y2J marrying Jessica Lockhart just 11 months into his first WWE run, at least one of the two men must have been married at the time of the kiss. But this was probably one their wives would get a kick out of.

10 Ric Flair being the man

via espn.com

While most wrestlers we’ve discussed in this article opened up about their infidelities only in their autobiographies or in melancholic interviews, Ric Flair has largely sounded cheerful every time he’s talked about his sleeping with women while he was on the road. With The Nature Boy remaining married – to four different women – from 1971 to 2014, it’s safe to say that the escapades he brags about took place while he was a married man. Given the fact that he held a championship title or two at any point during his prime, when kayfabe was still running wild, it’s not surprising that he attracted the ring rats, but the claims he’s had in the recent years – such as being with over 10,000 women and a newly-divorced Halle Berry – have caused many to lose sympathy for him.

9 Edge Betraying Matt Hardy with Lita

Edge, Lita, and Matt Hardy

The Matt Hardy-Lita-Edge love triangle put the limelight on the former two, and Edge would have been delighted to know that the internet wrestling fans and the media mentioned him fewer than they did the other two. While Lita took all the blame for cheating on her then-injured boyfriend with his best friend, Edge escaped flak although he cheated on a person whom he had pledged to love until the end of time: his wife.

His second wife, Lisa Ortiz, whom he had married only one year before sleeping with Lita, wrote on a message board, “Amy [Dumas] and Adam [Copeland] have had many opportunities to tell Matt [Hardy] and I both the truth, but they have both repeatedly continued to lie, lie, lie, and lie!” Lita, sadly, remains unmarried as of today while both men are married with children.

8 Victoria Admits John Cena Was Her Road Boyfriend

via tumblr.com/imageevent.com

John Cena didn’t just stop with impressing the veteran male wrestlers during his Doctor of Thuganomics run, for he also managed to woo one female wrestler, Victoria, outside the squared circle during that time. It appears that he didn’t care if she was a married woman. Victoria, who had been married to restaurateur Lee Varon for eight years at that point, began seeing him while they were on the road. Their relationship was only known to the locker room and wrestling insiders until Kenny Dykstra decided to let the cat out of the bag.

Victoria, unlike most famous persons who’ve been accused of infidelity, elected to comment on his accusations, as she stated that his accusations were true, although she said she was separated from her husband at the time. When her husband cheated on her in 2015, however, she flipped out on Twitter before divorcing him shortly afterwards.

7 Kevin Nash spotting The Undertaker at a banned place

via wwe.com

Here’s yet another Undertaker story. This story also doesn’t involve his cheating on his wife, as this is a cheeky one as well. This story also involves two wrestling legends doing what you’d do with your friends. Kevin Nash told a story in a shoot interview that Vince McMahon pulled the two big men into his office and ordered them not to visit gentlemen's clubs for the time being. Being a rebel, The Big Daddy Cool chose to ignore the chairman’s orders and hit up a gentleman's club the same night. He looked around to ensure none of the boys were there and, in the corner wearing black leather clothing was The Deadman who waved very casually. When Nash approached him, both men had an understanding that neither would rat out the other to Vince.

6 Sunny Namedrops The British Bulldog

via pinterest.com/tumblr.com

In this case, the married wrestler didn’t confess to cheating on his wife, but the woman he allegedly slept with has claimed numerous times that he had often cheated on his wife with her. Sunny included Davey Boy Smith’s name in a list of men she’s slept with in a shoot interview, and his family duly hit back at her for adopting disgraceful methods to stay a relevant wrestling figure.

However, given the fact that he had to divorce his loving wife of 16 years, Diana Hart, Bret Hart’s sister, in 2000 means that she might not had been lying after all. It’s now evident that she didn’t just ruin her life, but she’s also played a small role in other wrestlers’ sabotaging their normal lives.

5 Seth Rollins' Fiancee Outs Him

via tumblr.com

Seth Rollins has never spoken publicly about when his fiancee found out he was having an affair with NXT talent Zahra Schreiber, but after what she revealed, we really don't need to know anything more from Rollins. Rollins's ex Leighla Schultz went through Rollins's phone and saw that he had sent some racy pictures to Zahra and decided to expose him on Twitter. Schultz admitted on Twitter that she had tweeted all the pictures out after finding out about her fiance's actions.

Rollins never commented on being outed by the woman he was set to marry, but he did apologize for the photos being sent out.

"I would like to apologize to all the WWE fans and my family and friends for private photographs that were distributed without my consent."

4 Ted DiBiase Was Unfaithful Before Becoming Born-Again Christian

via espn.com

Ted DiBiase lived his gimmick for a certain amount of time during his peak. As he hardly got to spend time with his family, he slept around. Unlike most other wrestlers we’ve discussed in this article, he did seem to feel guilty, and it was the guilt that that helped him come clean. In his tell-all autobiography Every Man Has a Price: The True Story of Wrestling’s Million-Dollar Man, he’s explained in detail his marital infidelities and how he’s now become a changed man who truly appreciates the comfort that a stable life offers. Luckily, he had the backing of his wife Melanie DiBiase as he sobered up. He hasn’t just stopped with becoming a better human himself, as he’s since been trying to help other struggling individuals as well.

3 Vince McMahon Tells All

via pwpix.net

When your’re a man as powerful as Vince McMahon, you’ll have men and women throw themselves at you in return for favors. Only a small number of people would turn down persons who are as attractive as most on-screen WWE employees, and he wasn’t one of them. In an interview with Playboy in 2001, he opened up about his personal life. After admitting that he’s slept with an array of women behind Linda McMahon’s back, he said, “It’s not something I’m proud of. I just didn’t realize the impact of messing with other people’s lives. Notwithstanding the impact on my wife, I’m talking about the havoc you create in other lives, just from wanting to have a good time. There’s no such thing as an innocent fling.”

He also went on to say that he hadn’t cheated on his wife in five years, but it’s safe to assume that he might have had to reset his streak more than few times since.

2 Katsuyori Shibata Messes Up His push

Katsuyori Shibata

With New Japan Pro Wrestling and Japanese wrestling gaining steam, it’s only fitting that a married Japanese wrestler’s cheating makes this list. 2017 was a horrific year for NJPW powerhouse, Katsuyori Shibata. While the year ended with his wrestling career ending on the back of a gruelling match with IWGP Heavyweight Championship holder Kazuchika Okada, his bad luck started as early as January. The three-time NEVER Openweight Championship winner cheated on his wife of five years in January 2017, with a crazy woman, who exposed him after he left her. She made their texts, e-mail conversations and pictures available for the public to see and, given that Japan’s a country where infidelity is treated with as much scorn as it should be, he lost steam, and his career-ending injury at Sakura Genesis 2017 in April killed his chances of ever regaining it.

1 Bret Hart setting up Tona Tomah and The Dynamite Kid

via obsessedwithwrestling.com/pinterest.com

Tona Tomah, a native American wrestling legend, had a high libido and hasn’t been secretive about it. In fact, she was quite open about it. She often used to throw herself at fellow wrestlers backstage, and legend has it that she once asked Jim Neidhart, Bret Hart and Andre the Giant if they’d want to all engage in a 'tag-team match' with her.

The Hitman, who’s known to be a ribber, decided to prank his relative Dynamite Kid, real name Thomas Billington. He made her, who was completely wasted at that time, enter 29-year-old Dynamite Kid’s hotel room wearing nothing but a bed sheet. While most young men would freak out seeing a naked woman in her 50s throw herself at them, he proceeded to call Bret Hart's bluff and invite her in for the night. The Hitman probably still feels great about pranking him.
