Right now, Marty Scurll is the hottest free agent in all of wrestling as his Ring Of Honor contract reportedly comes to an end. The Villain is certainly in demand and both AEW and WWE will be doing all they can to land his signature.

The British wrestler is incredibly talented and has had a fantastic career so far. Becoming a top star for New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring Of Honor, Scurll has proven he has what it takes to be a draw for a top brand.

Despite his obvious connections to the AEW crew, there is no doubt that WWE is equally as interested in landing his signature. Where he will go is currently unknown, but within this article, we will give five reasons why it should be AEW and five why it should be WWE.

10 WWE: Surprise Factor

At this point in time, the vast majority of wrestling fans expect Marty Scurll to show up on an episode of AEW Dynamite. However, if he was to show up working for WWE, it would cause a major surprise.

Whether it be NXT or the 'main roster,' seeing The Villain arrive anywhere that isn't AEW would be a huge shock. However, that is what the wrestling business needs right now, some major surprises.

Bidding wars are always going to take place between AEW and WWE from now on, and sometimes WWE is going to win that war. Scurll could be the first major name to choose WWE over AEW, which would be a huge moment in the Wednesday Night Wars.

9 AEW: Creative Freedom

Marty Scurll comes with a pre-made character that doesn't need any tweaking or work. The Villain is incredibly fun and can be utilized as either a heel or a babyface, which makes him very versatile as well.

However, Marty is very hands-on with that character. He has created the look and the feel of The Villain, which has made it so popular amongst wrestling fans. It would be a risk on his behalf to then hand that character to Vince McMahon.

In WWE, Marty would not get creative control of his character, meaning anything could end up happening with it. However, in AEW, he would be allowed to make more decisions, which would surely suit him best.

8 WWE: WrestleMania Weekend Debut

If Marty Scurll did choose WWE, the chances are that the company wouldn't debut him until WrestleMania 36 weekend. While it might be a little while away, that doesn't mean that it wouldn't be worth the wait.

Whether it be the Raw after WrestleMania or popping up during NXT Takeover: Tampa, WWE could introduce him in the biggest way possible.

Even though AEW would no doubt have a big plan to debut Scurll and make him seem a star, they simply do not have anything that compares to WrestleMania weekend.

7 AEW: Long Term Booking

While WWE might be able to offer Marty Scurll an amazing moment over one weekend, the real question is whether they could book him consistently. That is something that AEW is more than likely capable of doing.

Everyone says how AEW is doing long term booking, thinking to the future, rather than from show to show. That would surely be more of an interest to Marty Scurll, knowing that the company is thinking about his future.

AEW would no doubt be focusing on a long term plan for someone as talented as Marty, which would give him assurances for his character.

6 WWE: Would Feel Unique

One of the big problems with Marty Scurll joining AEW is that there's a risk he simply blends in with the roster. The reason for that is the staggering amount of dark gimmicks and characters the company already has.

From the Dark Order and Butcher & The Blade to Darby Allin and Jimmy Havoc, AEW has got a lot going on in that department. By its very nature, The Villain falls into the same dark category.

On the other hand, in WWE, that isn't as big a problem. Sure, there are a few characters such as Damian Priest or Aleister Black, but for the most part, Scurll would feel like a much more unique character.

5 AEW: Follow-Up On Being The Elite

Being The Elite is a big part of AEW as the popular YouTube show often puts in hints and clues about things they want to happen. Sometimes it is just a wink to fan theories, but other times it is a nod to something coming in the future for the company.

In recent weeks there have been a lot of teases for Marty Scurll on the YouTube show, which many fans have picked up on. Seeing phones with questions typed on related to Scurll and his images popping up, it seems like his future is determined.

It would be a shame if he didn't turn up in AEW now because these clues have been so strong towards him that fans do have certain expectations.

4 WWE: Dream Matches

Who doesn't want to see Marty Scurll mix it up with Daniel Bryan or Roman Reigns? There are so many different dream matches just waiting for him in WWE that it seems insane that he could turn them down.

Shinsuke Nakamura, Roderick Strong, Keith Lee, they are all waiting for him. Sure, AEW has plenty as well with the likes of Chris Jericho, but Scurll has competed against the vast majority of AEW's roster before.

Granted, this is on a much larger scale than anything he has done with those wrestlers in the past, but that doesn't take away from what is waiting in WWE.

Even though AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling do not have a link together, they have come to terms on a deal that allows Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley to work for both. This means that there is a chance we could see Marty Scurll do the same.

Now, Scurll isn't quite at the level those two names are at due to their past with WWE, but he is certainly an in-demand talent. If he wanted to head over to New Japan and still do some dates, then AEW is the only option for him.

While there is no guarantee AEW will allow him to do that, there is more chance of it happening with them than there is with WWE.

2 WWE: Fresh Storylines

The main reason that Marty Scurll should opt for WWE is that it would create tons of fresh storylines for him to get working on. Even though there are people he's not worked with in AEW, for the most part, fans have seen him competing against that roster.

They have seen storylines of him fighting alongside Hangman Page or Cody Rhodes against top indie names. What fans haven't seen, is Marty Scurll walking around in NXT, or Raw.

There are so many fresh things that Scurll could be doing in WWE that it does seem a shame that they might go to waste. Sure, not all the storylines will be great, but it would be a fresher approach for his character to go work for Vince.

1 AEW: He Belongs With Them

The main reason that Marty Scurll should join AEW is simply that he belongs there. Scurll was part of the Elite group that helped sell out ALL IN, he had the same influence as names like Kenny Omega and Hangman Page.

He was a key member of that group, but his Ring Of Honor contract was just a little longer than the rest. Even though he didn't get to transition in the very beginning, he still is classed as a key member.

While it would be great to see him rock up in WWE, it would just feel wrong if he didn't join up with his friends to play a part in building AEW.
