Generation after generation, Mexican wrestlers have proven to be some of the best in the business. Families like the Alvarados, Guerreros and Garzas have become synonymous with luchadores around the world.

The last ten years have been especially interesting as an increasing number of Mexican wrestlers hold more prominent places in promotions around the world. American promotions in particular benefit from having a wealth of talent so close by, though some of of those promotions don't exactly get what luchadores are all about. Sometimes, you just have to let them do what they do best, then they'll put on one of the greatest matches you have ever seen.

10 Goya Kong

Part of the legendary Alvarado family, Goya Kong's wrestling pedigree is undeniable. With over ten years in the ring under her belt, she's proven time and time again that she's more than just a family name.

Goya is a monster in the ring, destroying her opponents with huge, powerful moves. Unfortunately, she tried one of those big moves off the ring apron in 2017 and suffered a horrific leg break.

Still, Goya has the potential to be a renowned wrestler if she gets the chance to show off her skill.

9 Kalisto

The masked Mexican-American performer has been with the WWE since 2013, holding the United States Championship, the Cruiserweight Championship and the NXT Tag Team Championship at different times. He has proven to be a fan favorite in the ring, thanks to moves like the Salida del Sol which looks unreal off a ladder.

As a member of the Lucha House Party alongside Gran Metalik and Puerto Rican wrestler Lince Dorado, he's become a bit of an afterthought in the WWE. Hopefully, his time is coming soon.

8 El Hijo Del Fantasma

El Hijo del Fantasma, also known as King Cuerno, is one of the best wrestlers to come out of Mexico. He has held multiple championships in both AAA and CMLL, then moved to Impact where he didn't make much of an impact due to bad booking.

Fantasma is the type of wrestler that steals the show when given the chance. WWE reportedly signed him in August 2019 so that might be the opportunity he needs to take his career to the next level. At the very least, a wider audience will know his name.

7 Lady Maravilla

A new name to many wrestling fans, Lady Maravilla has become a bankable star in both AAA and CMLL. She puts on hard hitting matches that draw fans in with big spots and great stories.

Lady Maravilla did get a chance to show off her skills to a wider audience in 2019 on Impact Wrestling Xplosion where she faced the always impressive Tessa Blanchard. While Maravilla didn't come out on top, she definitely showed Impact what she's all about. It's only a matter of time before she signs with NXT or AEW.

6 Pentagón Jr.

In the game since 2007, Pentagón Jr. has carved a name for himself as part of one of the greatest tag teams in the world, the Lucha Bros. He partners with Rey Fénix, his actual brother.

Pentagón Jr. is a masked luchador whose aggressive, high flying style has built him into one of the most legendary in ring performers of the last decade. Currently signed to multiple promotions, he has held multiple AAA Tag Team Championships and will inevitably be an AEW Tag Team Champion.

Plus, his mask is unreal.

5 Rey Fénix

It's hard to picture Pentagón Jr. in the ring without his brother, Rey Fénix, at his side. Fénix is one of the greatest luchadores around today, pulling huge moves off the top rope that have to be seen to be believed.

He and Pentagón Jr. have become fan favorites, thanks to their intense style and incredible talent, the living embodiment of cero miedo. Fénix, in particular, has proven to be a talent that can't be ignored. His success as a singles competitor is all but a certainty.

4 Thunder Rosa

She might have only been in the business for a few years but Thunder Rosa, aka Kobra Moon, has already built solid reputation in the ring.

A current member of the WOW and NWA rosters, Rosa has impressed in almost every match she's been involved in. Still, her name isn't wildly known. Rosa is looking for that big break or big match that will give her name recognition with a wider audience.

She seems like she's right on the cusp of the moment, especially if she signs with NXT, AEW or NJPW.

3 Gran Metalik

Máscara Dorada, known to WWE fans as Gran Metalik, has been wrestling since 2005, building up an incredible following. The Master of the Ropes can pull off some of the most astonishing moves off the ring ropes that WWE fans have ever seen. Unfortunately, WWE management seem confused about how to use him in the ring.

Despite his talent, Gran Metalik has yet to hold any championships even though he's been with the company since 2016. He should have been a shoe in for a run as the Cruiserweight Champion but somehow that didn't happen.

2 Andrade

Formerly known as La Sombra when he performed with a mask, the wrestler now known as Andrade had great success in CMLL and NJPW alongside Gran Metalik before coming to NXT. Once partnered with Zelina Vega as his manager, his career took off and he won the NXT Championship.

After making his way to SmackDown and Raw, he had an epic series of matches with Rey Mysterio that cemented him as a main event player. That hasn't translated into a championship reign, yet, but it is going to happen.

1 Rey Mysterio

One of the longest tenured and most recognizable luchadores active today, Rey Mysterio is WWE's top Latinx performer.

Born of Mexican heritage in Southern California, Mysterio is WWE's current United States Champion, and has held numerous belts around the world. Debuting in 1989, Rey Mysterio made a name for himself in AAA, ECW, WCW, NJPW and WWF/WWE.

Describing his career and talent as epic might be a huge understatement. Mysterio is one of the most respected wrestlers in the business for a reason.
