Former wrestling superstar Michael PS Hayes honored his late The Fabulous Freebirds tag teammate, Buddy Jack Roberts, who died on November 26, 2012 of pneumonia.

Roberts, who was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2016 by his son, Buddy "Jack" Roberts Jr. as part of The Fabulous Freebirds, also appeared with The Hollywood Blonds in the 1970s. He began his career under the tutelage of Ivan Koloff, a Canadian professional wrestler known as The Russian Bear. He made his debut in 1965 as Dale Valentine and was billed as the younger brother of Johnny Valentine.

At the start of the seventies, he joined a tag team with Jerry Brown. The duo were known as The Hollywood Blonds, winning a number of regional tag team titles across the country. When he split from Brown, he teamed up with Hayes and Terry Gordy under the name The Fabulous Freebirds. The Jack was added to his name in reference to his love of Jack Daniel's whiskey.

In 1987, the team split up and Roberts went on to manage Hayes and Jimmy Garvin, who fought Steve Armstrong and Tracy Smothers in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in September of 1990. Roberts returned to the ring in 1993 to participate in the Global Wrestling Federation's Kerry Von Erich Memorial Show, teaming with Hayes. The pair lost against Kevin Von Erich and Chris Adams.

Prior to his pneumonia diagnosis, Roberts battled throat cancer, saying at the time, "Don't smoke. I think the reason this happened to me is because I was smoking too much. I recommend to anyone who smokes to quit now. It is hard, but it is worth it."

Hayes is now working as the head of the road agents/producers with the WWE. In 2011, he also paid tribute to his Freebird teammate Gordy, who had died of a heart attack in 2001 with a song he wrote entitled Freebird Road.
