Mick Foley Is Expecting A Big Night For The Irish At the Royal Rumble

Mick Foley has picked who he thinks will be winning both Royal Rumble matches later this month and believes it will be an all Irish affair.

The 2018 Royal Rumble is now less than two weeks away and the 30th anniversary of the event is set to be one of the biggest ever. Not only is it hard to call a winner for the Royal Rumble match itself which always adds to the anticipation of the pay per view, but it will also be the first time there has been an all women's Royal Rumble with 30 females set to start throwing each other over the top rope.

So many big names have won Royal Rumble matches over the course of its 30 year history. Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Stone Cold, pretty much all of WWE's biggest names have won the famous match. One man who never managed to win one was Mick Foley, a fact that he likely finds particularly sore considering one year he entered the same Rumble three times under different personas.

That inconvenient truth won't stop Foley from watching this year's Rumble however and recently UK newspaper The Mirror caught up with the WWE Hall of Famer to see who he thought would be winning both of this year's matches. His picks? Becky Lynch for the ladies and Sheamus for the men. Although he may have picked Irish stars because he was speaking with a British paper, Foley does have a history of loving both the Celtic performers.

While Foley was the General Manager of Raw one of his greatest achievements was the work he did with Sheamus and Cesaro. It began when he put them in a best-of-seven series against one another and ended when Foley forced them to be tag team partners, a pairing that exists on Raw to this day. Foley has also not been shy about expressing his fondness for Becky Lynch so it makes sense that she would be his pick.

While we can definitely see Lynch winning the women's Royal Rumble match as it would make for an intriguing showdown with Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34, picking Sheamus might be wishful thinking. The Celtic Warrior is very much involved in the tag team division right now and it doesn't seem as if he will be rejoining the singles ranks any time soon, let alone the Universal Title scene.
