The arrival of Ronda Rousey (and to some extent, Shayna Baszler) in WWE proves to female mixed martial artists that there is life after the octagon. But not only does Rousey stepping foot in a WWE ring provide great crossover appeal for the world of sports entertainment, it could also open the floodgates in regards to other MMA fighters possibly stepping into the squared circle.

One of those former MMA fighters is former UFC Bantamweight champion, Miesha Tate. Twice Tate stepped into the octagon against Rousey and twice Tate submitted to an armbar. Her last fight came at UFC 205 in November 2016 and Tate retired from MMA in the middle of the octagon after losing to Raquel Pennington. Tate has laid low the past few months, but following Rousey’s Rumble debut, she says she wouldn’t mind stepping foot into a WWE ring albeit it would be on her terms.

“I’ve always said I’d be down to do a cameo with WWE, so I personally wouldn’t want to do like a two or three year world tour, because I know there’s so much that goes into that… but with Ronda specifically? That changes things a little bit. Depends how much we’d have to work together… If the money’s right, maybe, I think.

Two two ladies have a long and distinguished history that exists outside of the ring. Besides the usual trash-talking between two combatants, Tate made disparaging remarks about Rousey after she admitted to having suicidal thoughts following her loss to Holly Holm. But still, Tate maintains that if she were to face Rousey in a WWE ring, she could remain professional throughout the match.

“That’s one thing I’ve always had in my favor, is that I’ve always been able to be like the bigger person and get over [losing to Rousey]… I’m never gonna like Ronda, but I don’t like hate her. I don’t have to be like unprofessional… so I know I could get the job done [in WWE], but I wouldn’t want to have to hang out with Ronda and work on choreography and act like we don’t not like each other, because that’s not the case.”

Unless Tate wants to show up in WWE and get squashed by Rousey, then she would have to do some type of choreography with her. Since she only wants a cameo role, lots of money and only wants to face Rousey, then she’s limiting her options which likely isn’t to make her too appealing to WWE.

But if there is money to be made with a match, then WWE will seek that opportunity. Thus, we shouldn’t rule out Rousey-Tate III, this time in a WWE ring.
