WWE released Luke Harper, Sin Cara and The Ascension last weekend, leading to speculation that even more superstar cuts could be on the way.

Harper and Sin Cara both took to Twitter and detailed their wishes to be let go. The early indicators were that WWE wouldn't grant their requests, but the company eventually decided to follow through with them.

Following the releases of the four superstars, it was reported that more WWE superstars could soon be released. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Paul Davis of Wrestling News) is also suggesting that more talents could be let go.

Meltzer detailed that Harper, Sin Cara and The Ascension weren't told beforehand that they were going to be let released. This bodes well for other superstars who want to be let go, as they could receive the news from WWE any day now.

It was also noted by Davis that Mike Kanellis could be granted his release. After all, he took to Twitter (like Harper and Sin Cara) and expressed his desire to be let go back in October. This came just a few months after Mike and wife Maria Kanellis signed new five-year deals with the company.

Other than Kanellis, it's anybody's guess which other superstars could soon be released. The contracts of both Matt and Jeff Hardy expire in 2020, and the former seemed to indicate that he's preparing to leave WWE.

But whether or not the company would grant either Hardy an early release is unclear at this time. Oney Lorcan also requested to be released by WWE, but he claimed to have signed a new contract with the company. Otherwise, take your guess as to which other superstars could be released.

Mike Kanellis Deserves A Fresh Start

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but hopefully WWE will do the proper thing and give Kanellis a fresh start. He's been heavily underused by WWE creative, and there's no reason to keep Kanellis one if they don't have any plans for him. At any rate, it bodes well for him in that WWE was willing to let go of Harper and Sin Cara, despite early hints that they wouldn't release anybody.
