The Miz and Maryse announced live on Raw this week during a Miz TV segment that they are expecting a baby.
For one of the first times since launching 205 Live, WWE blurred the lines between the cruiserweight division and the rest of the roster on Raw this week as the new 205 Live recruit Enzo Amore appeared on Miz TV. It didn't stop there though and the verbal barbs wound up becoming physical as Miz took on Amore in a match.
Enzo actually won the match, but only via disqualification unfortunately for him. Despite a match going on the two competitors kept stopping to grab mics and talk smack to each other. Amore touched a nerve though when he brought up a topic of conversation that had been discussed just before he came to the ring, that The Miz and Maryse are expecting a baby. The Intercontinental Champion snapped after that and threw his opponent to his Miztourage.
At first, it appeared like a face turn was on the cards for The Awesome One. Upon announcing the news the crowd began chanting "yes" as he kissed his wife. Normal service then resumed when he promised Maryse that he would be there for their child, unlike Kurt Angle was for Jason Jordan. It was at that point The Miz began to make a speech, and an interrupting Enzo Amore thankfully saved us from it.
The Miz and Maryse are a married couple in real life, of course, and their relationship transcends the boundaries of WWE. The two of them got married in February 2014 and judging by what we see of them on Total Divas they make an extremely good couple. Their pregnancy will likely play a role on the reality show as well as to further story lines on Raw going forward.
It really is hard not to admire the modern day Miz. There aren't many Superstars that can make the crowd turn on a pregnancy announcement, but he managed to do just that on Monday night. Many heels in WWE right now are fan favorites, such as Kevin Owens, but The A-Lister is an example of a true heel. Let's hope his son or daughter eventually follows in his footsteps a fair few years from now.
