Last night on Raw, it was announced that The Miz would be returning on next week’s show. So, the “Awesome” one is coming back next week, but what does the WWE have planned for him when he does?

Well, according to CageSideSeats The Miz will jump right back into the Intercontinental title picture that he was a part of before he left for almost two months when he went off to film the sixth film in the Marine franchise, The Marine 6: Close Quarters.

On the November 20th, 2017 episode of Raw The Miz lost his Intercontinental Championship title to Roman Reigns and then headed off to film Marine 6. But on the Jan. 9, 2017, episode of Raw The Miz will be back and he should find himself smack dab in the middle of the Intercontinental title picture right away.

Back in the IC title picture is exactly where The Miz should be as he continues to work his way to potentially breaking some historic WWE records.

With his loss to Reigns back in November The Miz ended his 7th reign with the Intercontinental title. The record for most Intercontinental Title reigns is held by the great Chris Jericho, who has held the title nine times over his career. So, getting right back into the Intercontinental Championship hunt gives The Miz a shot at getting number eight sooner than later.

Also, as things stand, The Miz has held the Intercontinental Title for a total of 460 days. The record for most days holding the title is held by Pedro Morales—who held it for a total of 619 days over the course of his two title reigns back in the early 1980s. Which puts The Miz 160 days away from breaking that record. That certainly isn’t a guarantee, but it is doable.

Now, while the report is that The Miz will reenter the Intercontinental title picture immediately upon his return, there is no information about whether that means he will actually defeat Roman Reigns and get the title back right away. For that, we will just have to wait and see.
