Over the years, wrestling has elicited a slew of emotions from fans, no matter the show. Moments like the Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth reuniting at WrestleMania VII can bring a tear to a fan’s eye, just like the tear that was in Ric Flair’s eye when he won the 1992 Royal Rumble. Or when he retired at WrestleMania XXIV. Or when Daniel Bryan and Edge had to unfortunately retire.

10 The Shield Implodes - Raw 10.22.2018

It was long odyssey trying to get Roman Reigns over as the next mega star. The process seemed to finally start working after The Big Dog was able to defeat Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam and capture the Universal title. But several month into his title reign, real life reared its ugly head.

Roman had to abdicate the title to fight leukemia. The Shield reunited after Roman’s announcement but by the end of the night, despite Rollins and Ambrose winning the Raw tag team titles, Ambrose would be the one to shatter The Hounds Of Justice, turning on Rollins.

9 ECW One Night Stand 2005

Despite being very popular, ECW was forced to shutter its doors in early 2001. But thanks to Rob Van Dam suggesting an idea to Vince McMahon, the tribe returned for what was then thought to be a one-night only show. One Night Stand began with a rabid mass of ECW fans welcoming a teary-eyed Joey Styles to the ring to commentate for the night along with Mick Foley.

The show was one massive tribute show, paying tribute to ECW stars who has passed away and current WWE roster stars reverted to their ECW roots for the evening. Mike Awesome and Masato Tanaka reignited their brutal war. But by the time Paul Heyman emerged from the back, the fans has welcomed back a clearly choked up and emotional founder with open arms.

8 WrestleMania XXIX

The Show Of Shows had a big match 19 years in the making when Vince McMahon took on Hulk Hogan in a street fight that also saw the return of Roddy Piper. Hot Rod wasn’t the only superstar who made his return on this night. Shawn Michaels would return to the WrestleMania stage to do battle with Chris Jericho in an instant classic.

Rey Mysterio had his Mania debut against Matt Hardy and Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar would have a main event for the ages, despite a botch for the ages as well. In their final WrestleMania encounter, The Rock was finally able to defeat Stone Cold on the grandest stage of them all in what proved to be the final round for The Texas Rattlesnake.

7 Edge's Return - Raw 01.27.2020

After an emotional Royal Rumble that saw Drew McIntyre capture the coveted WrestleMania spot, Charlotte follow in her father’s footsteps and win the Rumble match, not to mention a certain Rated-R Superstar making a shocking return; the night after the Rumble was even more so.

The Scottish Warrior celebrated taking one step closer to ascending to the mountaintop. The crowd was waiting with baited breath to hear from Edge, only to see that amazing moment shattered by Randy Orton.

6 NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn

During the Network Era, the whispers of the fans turned into a roar and Brooklyn housed an NXT TakeOver for the ages. For any fan trying to convince their naysayer buddies why they still watch wrestling - this is the show to show them!

It is the only WWE show in history to feature the legendary Jushin Thunder Liger. Finn Balor successfully defended the NXT title against Kevin Owens in the first ever Ladder Match. But the night’s biggest and brightest emotional high - the instant classic between Sasha and Bayley, which really jump started the Women’s Evolution.

5 WrestleMania 35

WrestleMania is always one of the most emotional nights of the year because so many storylines come together and rise to their crescendos. Stories like the WWE Universe actually cheering The Miz on in his battle with Shane McMahon and the final matches of both Kurt Angle and Dave Batista.

But the biggest storylines that converged at WrestleMania 35 was the eleven year odyssey of Kofi Kingston culminating with finally winning the WWE title. The Women’s Evolution came full circle on this night as Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte main evented the show in an epic Triple Threat match.

4 Mankind Reigns - Raw 01.04.1999

After being cheated and lied to by The Corporation for months, Mankind was completely dejected and fed up. He took Shane McMahon hostage in the ring and demanded a title match.

Elsewhere in the wrestling world on this night, Tony Schiavone was attempting to spoil the news that Mick Foley was going to win the title. But instead of belittling Foley’s win with the “butts in seats” line, plenty of fans clicked off Nitro and clicked on Raw to see it happen. The actual match was indeed the site to see someone who worked as hard as Foley finally win the big one.

3 Raw Is Owen 05.24.1999

During a now eerily-named Over The Edge PPV, Owen Hart tragically fell to his death while trying to perform a ringside stunt. In show business, the show must go on and the next night on Raw, the entire night was dedicated to The King Of Harts.

Wrestlers shared their personal thoughts on Owen and shared Owen stories while putting on matches throughout the night. Mick Foley spoke about how his little kids would chant Nugget, not realizing it was a derogatory term and his son Dewey had gotten his hair cut just like Owen. Road Dogg and Godfather decided to not have their match and just share some Owen stories and Stone Cold Steve Austin simply left a beer in the ring to toast to The Rocket.

After Owen’s tragic death laid out the blueprint for how WWE can do a tribute show, they unfortunately had to break that format out again after the equally tragic and heartbreaking loss of Eddie Guerrero.
