The 10 Most Venomous RKOs Of All-Time

The Viper, Randy Orton is well known for being one of the most gifted wrestlers of his generation. With an incredible smoothness inside the ring and fantastic psychology, Orton has maintained an incredible main event career for well over a decade.

However, when all is said and done what he might be best remembered for are his famous RKOs out of nowhere. One of the greatest finishing moves in the history of wrestling, Orton has hit the move on so many wrestlers, from all angles.

Even though he actually took the move from DDP, there is no question that Orton has made it his own and with the incredible power of the internet and memes, Orton's move became known even outside of the wrestling bubble.

10 Deadman Walking (WrestleMania 21)

Some of Randy Orton's RKOs are big and flashy, catching wrestlers off the top rope or from ladders, but sometimes the most simple use of the move is what is best and this is a great example of that.

The move still came as a surprise with Orton reversing The Undertaker's attempt at a Chokeslam, but when he hit the move it was packed with venom as he planted the Deadman into the mat.

WWE had built Orton so well in the build to this match that it really felt like he could have ended the WrestleMania streak and this moment, in particular, had fans thinking it was all over for The Undertaker.

9 Catching CM Punk (WrestleMania 27)

Another of Randy Orton's greatest, most venomous RKOs came at WrestleMania 27 during his match against CM Punk, who was working as the leader of the New Nexus at the time.

The two men had been feuding for several months leading up to the Grandest Stage Of Them All, with Orton working towards WrestleMania in order to end the group once and for all by beating the leader.

That is exactly what he did as well, with a major RKO worthy of WrestleMania. As Punk leapt from the top rope to take down the Viper, Orton caught him in mid-air with an incredible RKO.

8 Welcome To The Rumble (Royal Rumble 2019)

If you want proof of just how nasty Randy Orton can be, then look no further than the 2019 Royal Rumble event when he quickly introduced Nia Jax to the world of men's professional wrestling.

Jax entered the men's Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant in a moment that caught everyone's attention as Jax mixed it up with several top male talents with Orton being one of them. When Randy Orton bumped into Jax inside the Rumble, he quickly made himself known as he dropped Nia Jax with an RKO, showing nobody is off limits.

7 Out Of Nowhere (SmackDown Live)

Randy Orton's RKO has often had the nickname of being "out of nowhere" because Orton can literally hit the move at any point within a match, but on SmackDown Live prior to the 2019 Royal Rumble, the Viper took it to a whole new level.

With Shinsuke Nakamura setting up to hit the Kinshasa on Baron Corbin during his match on SmackDown Live, nobody expected Randy Orton to appear, yet he slid into the ring and destroyed Nakamura with a brilliant RKO.

Orton had made his entrance through the crowd in order to keep it a surprise from Nakamura, which made it an epic moment that nobody who saw it will forget.

6 Orton's Whipping Boys (Money in the Bank 2018)

During Randy Orton's feud with Jinder Mahal, the Viper had to deal with three people all at once with the Singh Brothers being a constant thorn in the side of Orton as he tried to become WWE Champion.

The tag team became the whipping boys for Orton who seemed to enjoy beating the pair up more and more as each week passed as the two men simply became rag dolls for the experienced wrestler to play with.

Orton hit countless RKOs on the duo throughout the storyline and all of them were incredibly impactful, but at Money in the Bank he used the announce table to his advantage, making a real statement.

5 Catching A Batista Bomb (WrestleMania 30)

As if an RKO isn't vicious enough on its own, when you add it to a Batista Bomb and then finish it through an announce table, it takes on a whole new world of vicious, as Daniel Bryan found out at WrestleMania 30.

The triple threat match which headlined the show is one of the greatest WrestleMania main events in history and both Batista and Randy Orton went out of their way to do everything possible to stop Bryan achieving his dream.

As Batista hit the Batista Bomb to Bryan, looking to put him through the announce table, Randy Orton popped up to hit a crazy RKO halfway through, although Orton also landed on the TV monitor, cutting his back open in the process.

4 Putting The Big Dog Down (Raw)

Whilst a lot of the RKOs on this list show Randy Orton mid-match, reversing moves, this entry focuses on the time when The Authority ran riot as Seth Rollins turned on his Shield brothers, shocking the world.

With Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose beaten down and broken, the Viper stepped in to add insult to injury and a broken Big Dog as he hit an RKO full of venom, planting Reigns into a steel chair to really make sure the issue was solved.

Orton hasn't hit many RKOs with more venom than this one that simply left Roman Reigns laying flat, showing the power of the incredible finishing move.

3 Introduction To Steel (SummerSlam 2011)

One of Randy Orton's greatest feuds came against Christian in the summer of 2011 as the two men battled over the World Heavyweight Championship in what was an incredible storyline.

The two men traded the title back and forth and had some amazing matches along the way, but their battle at SummerSlam saw Randy Orton produce an incredibly vicious RKO to Captain Charisma.

With the steel steps set up in the middle of the ring, Christian attempted to dive from the second rope back to Orton only for the Viper to pounce and hit the RKO.

2 The Stomp Outta Nowhere (WrestleMania 31)

One RKO that all wrestling fans will certainly remember took place at WrestleMania 31 during the brilliant match between Randy Orton and Seth Rollins who had built up a fantastic feud in the previous year.

With Orton and Rollins working together in The Authority, it would be Randy who turned on the group, and Rollins, after having had enough of them, leading to some fantastic promos that built to their match.

There was plenty of hatred between the two men heading into this one, and you could feel all of it within this RKO. Rollins was attempting to hit his Stomp finisher, only for Orton to flip him int the air and destroy him with an unbelievable RKO.

1 AirBourne (Monday Night Raw)

Without a doubt, the most venomous RKO of all time came on an episode of Monday Night Raw in a normal match against Evan Bourne where Randy Orton proved just how great his finishing move can be.

The best thing about the RKO is that it really can come out of nowhere, and Orton proved exactly that in this match. As other wrestlers have evolved around him, they have been able to put themselves on the line more and more and that trend really started to happen here.

Evan Bourne took to the top rope and looked to hit his Airbourne finisher on a prone Orton, yet it turned out the Viper was simply playing possum as he leapt into the air to catch him with an unbelievable RKO.
