The New Age Outlaws are considered by many to be the best tag team duo during the Attitude Era. "Road Dogg" Jesse James and Billy Gunn had such good chemistry that they wound up winning the tag team titles multiple times. Most successful tag teams tend to have a clear star leading the team, with the other teammate being more of a role player.

The New Age Outlaws are one of a select few tag teams that do not really fall into that category. Many people believe that "Road Dogg" Jesse James is that star while others believe it to be Billy Gunn.

10 Road Dogg: He's Cooler

Road Dogg was one of the coolest and slick wrestlers during the Attitude Era. He the clothes, the style, the attitude, and everything anyone could ever want. His braids instantly gave him one of the coolest hairstyles in the business.

His baggy yet vibrant clothes were some of the best-sellers of all WWE merchandise. His style was seen as quirky by some but that is was made him so cool. His attitude, however, was his best attribute; Road Dogg wasn't afraid to back down from anyone. All of these together made Road Dogg one of the coolest guys in the business.

9 Billy Gunn: Better Pure Wrestler

Billy Gunn is known for many things but one of the main things people remember about Billy Gunn was his ability to wrestle. Gunn spent nearly eight years honing his skills as a wrestler on amateur circuits before signing with the WWE. He was smooth in the ring and always seemed to make his opponent better.

Billy Gunn could adjust to just about any opponent. What made him so special was that he could be put in any situation and look terrific regardless of the circumstances. Most wrestlers would not be able to say that about themselves.

8 Road Dogg: Hard Working

It can be sometimes difficult for fans to point out which wrestlers are working harder than others. Sometimes the hard work of a wrestler is incorporated into a storyline to get the crowd behind them. For Road Dogg, that is not the case, as it takes a bit of background research to find this out.

Road Dogg was a United States Marine and earned a Ph.D. from the United States Marine Corps. According to multiple peers, he was also the first one in the building in the morning and one of the last to leave.  It takes a hard worker to become a star and that is what it took for Road Dogg to rise to fame.

7 Billy Gunn: Athleticism

One reason Billy Gunn was considered the star of the New Age Outlaws was because of his sheer athletic ability. Billy Gunn stands at about 6'3" and weighed anywhere from 260-270 pounds during his run with the WWE.

Most wrestlers wish they could have that size and athleticism that he possessed. His athleticism was even more evident during tag team matches. Very few have entered the square-circle with his combination of size and athleticism.

6 Road Dogg: Solid Wrestler

Road Dogg began his illustrious wrestling career in 1986 when he wrestled for  NWA Southeast Championship Wrestling. After he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, he took up wrestling again but this time with WCW.

He wrestled on and off for a few years after his initial debut with WCW due to his service requirements in the military but it was during this time where Road Dogg honed his wrestling skills. He was constantly fighting good talent such as Kevin Sullivan, Brutus Beefcake, and even Triple H when he was known as Jean-Paul Levesque.

5 Billy Gunn: Physique

The first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions Billy Gunn is his very impressive physique. Billy Gunn showcased a body that looked like it was sculpted from a slab of marble. He had the big guns, the abs, the traps, and just about everything else a wrestler could ever want.

He kept in tremendous shape and clearly took advantage of the state of the art weight room that the WWE offered at the time. One thing a star sometimes needs is big muscles and Billy Gunn had no shortage in that department.

4 Road Dogg: Wrestling Background

Road Dogg grew up in a family that was eating, sleeping, and breathing professional wrestling each day. His father, Bob Armstrong, is a WWE Hall of Fame member. Bob wrestled for nearly five decades and taught his son Road Dogg how to be a professional wrestler.

Road Dogg also has three brothers who were all professional wrestlers at some point. It is safe to say that Road Dogg would not have become the star he became without the help and support from his family.

3 Billy Gunn: Comedy

What do the New Age Outlaws, D-Generation X, and Billy and Chuck all have in common? Well, firstly, Billy Gunn was a member of all three teams but secondly and more importantly, they were all funny.

Billy Gunn was able to make fans laugh whether it be his mannerisms in the ring or his skills on the mic. When the spotlight was on Billy Gunn, the crowd was often waiting to erupt for another hysterical moment. For the record, the crowd was never laughing at him but rather with him.

2 Road Dogg: His Catchphrase

Road Dogg is known for many things but perhaps the biggest and most influential is his catchphrase. "OH YOU DIDN'T KNOW? YOUR A$* BETTER CALL SOMEBODY!" This legendary catchphrase is known by most WWE fans as well as those who have never watched a second of professional wrestling.

Road Dogg struck gold when he first uttered those infamous nine words. A star is someone who can electrify the crowd and his catchphrase may be the most electrifying words ever spoken through a microphone in the wrestling business.

1 Billy Gunn: Drive To Win

One thing that has always seemed to follow Billy Gunn during his time in professional wrestling was success. Billy Gunn was able to find it at all levels in the company whether it was winning the tag titles or winning the Hardcore title or the Intercontinental belt.

Billy Gunn not only won tag team titles with Road Dogg, but he also did so with Bart Gunn and Chuck. One trait that all stars share is the ability to win and Billy Gunn sure was successful at that.
