Any WWE fan who grew up during the Golden Age of Wrestling is undoubtedly familar with this ring entrance:

"From Venice Beach, California, weighing 303 pounds. He is the current WWF World Heavyweight Champion...Hulk...HOGAN!"

That intro, and so many others, has become the standard in pro wrestling and specifically the WWE. The general format is: Hometown, Billed Weight, Titles Held (if any), Superstar's Name.

But in the Women's Division, you have likely noticed that the Women's Superstars don't have their weights announced. Of course, any male with a loving and doting mother knows that you never ask a woman her weight, her age, or if she's pregnant. But one Women's Superstars has broken that "announced weight" barrier down and it's none other than the girl who's not like most other girls, Nia Jax.

Jax takes great pride in having her billed weight of 272 pounds announced and she spoke about that recently with Yahoo Sports.

“It’s something [WWE senior producer] Johnny Ace mentioned to me and we went to Vince and we talked about it,” Jax said. “That’s something that’s tough for a woman, sharing their weight. Me sharing my weight and me being the person I am, Vince agreed with me on this, it’s embracing who you are."

Jax wanted her weight announced not just because of the message it sends to women about being comfortable with themselves, but also for a practical reason. Imagine being Jax's opponent, and likely weighing half of her, and then realizing you are about to face someone who outweighs the likes of Roman Reigns or Triple H!

“[Someone who is] 272 pounds is a very heavy person and it’s a lot of force that these women are taking. It incorporated not only the message that I’m sending about my body, but also a character thing. It was really cool because when we talked about it and I saw his vision behind it, I realized I would be the only one in this division where you’d be able to see this force.”

In the midst of the Women's Revolution, Jax has revolutionized the perception of what a female Superstar looks like. She embraces her size and her confidence has led her to the top of Raw's Women's Division. Jax will look to stay at the top this Sunday when she takes on Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women's Championship at Money in the Bank.
