Mick Foley has consistently suggested that The Undertaker never, ever tweet. It just wouldn’t be becoming of The Deadman. Well, The Undertaker recently went against Foley's advice, as he started an account in December 2018. With all due respect to the Micker, while having an account might completely destroy the credibility of the greatest WWE Superstar ever; The Phenom has been breaking kayfabe for years. We have the pictures to prove it!

The Undertaker has simply spent years and years performing pre-social media, guarding his private life like Paul Bearer used to guard the urn. We seldom get to see pictures of Mark Calaway. When there are, it’s usually him in some form of Undertaker garb. Considering how little the guy poses, it’s a jarring visual no matter the picture.

Nowadays, he’s older and posing with his wife, former WWE superstar Michelle McCool, and family members all over his own account and hers. The jarring factor is just how much of a fun-loving family guy he is. He’s just like everyone one else in the world on his downtime. He’s just like you and I. Except, he’s also a 6-foot-10, burly man covered in tattoos who has been heaving people off of 15-20-foot-high cages and into coffins to bury them for a living for thirty years. No biggie, all in a day’s work, right?

With that said, here are 20 pictures of Mark Calaway, aka The Undertaker, breaking kayfabe.

20 An Odd Couple

The love and respect plenty of old-school superstars and fans have for The Sensational Sherri might be unmatched. She was both the AWA and WWE Women’s Champion. She helped The Rockers find their footing in AWA, long before being paired with Shawn Michaels. She added to Harlem Heat in WCW. Often times, she was under the Peggy Sue wig with Honky Tonk Man, and of course, helped cut some of the most riotous promos with The Macho King.

While The Phenom never crossed paths with Scary Sherri on-air, The Undertaker clearly shared the same adoration many fans had for Sherri Martel. Here, the two share a tender embrace between friends and colleagues in a very seldom seen show of affection from The Deadman.

19 A Cold Day

Even The Undertaker has to answer to his wife. It didn’t happen overnight and might have taken some cajoling from Michelle McCool, but The Undertaker had been popping up on her social media page here and there for a few years. As their family grew, he probably felt the need to be in family pictures.

Here is one of the most recent pictures of Mr. and Mrs. Deadman, clearly taken during a skiing vacation. Again, they're just like us, only that they're wrestling superstars going skiing for the holiday season. If only there was an action shot of ‘Taker on the Bunny Trail...

18 The Great One And The Phenom

During the Attitude Era, just about everyone amped up their real personalities to level eleven. The Undertaker, however, ramped up his Undertaker persona to level eleven, not to mention got bigger than a house. The Ministry Of Darkness, and then the Corporate Ministry were two of the biggest and wildest factions during the Attitude Era.

Not only did The Rock become one of the most popular superstars ever, but he also became the biggest star in Hollywood. But perhaps, more important than any of that – he got the then-WWE champion, The Undertaker at his most sinister, to crack a smile.

17 Even The Phenom Loves His Grandma

via reddit.com

This has got to be one of the rarest Undertaker pics out there. A young Undertaker, circa early '90s, is posing with what only one could assume is Nana ‘Taker. Even though the guy had traveled the world as an undead creature from beyond the grave who puts all of his opponents in body bags, he’s still just a dude in makeup.

If the guy didn’t love grammy, he’d be a real heel. But contrary to any evidence on-screen, off-screen, The Phenom is anything but. There's no way 'Taker ever thought this picture would ever be seen by millions back when he took it. This was supposed to be his safe space for breaking kayfabe!

16 Suburbia(n) Commando

via staticflickr.com

The larger-than-life superstars that WWE celebrities play on TV always make pictures like this very hard to believe. That's Phineas and Henry Godwinn hanging around their fellow BSK brethren, Yokozuna and The Undertaker. The fearsome quartet doesn’t look so fearsome bumming around suburbia.

Taker’s just in a loose tank top and sweatpants…all the guy’s missing in a fanny pack and he’d be Michael Hayes’s younger brother. Still, he’s doing his best to look Undertaker-like, but that’s really hard when you’re just chilling in the neighborhood with friends and fans. It's a real mystery as to how this picture wound up being taken.

15 Clowning Around With Ed Young

via wrestletalk.com

When you’re a diehard wrestling fan, chances are you love catching all of your favorite stars anywhere you can. That sometimes means watching shows and interviews in various situations, like this one. Here's The Undertaker, completely out of character, chatting with Ed Young, the pastor and founder of the Fellowship Church.

There are not many interviews like this out there, of The Undertaker – a master at keeping kayfabe even in today’s day and age just freely talking about what went into the origins of the character and why it has so much longevity. It’s easy to find on YouTube if you have about 45 minutes to spare.

14 The Never Ending Era

The heat that used to exist between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels has been documented almost as much as the heat between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart; almost as much as the heat between HBK and just anyone during the late 90s. It makes for compelling television nowadays whenever The Deadman and HBK are on screen.

The WWE tried to call the Hell In The Cell match between Taker and Triple H at WrestleMania XVIII 'The End Of An Era'. For a few years, that was true. But late last year, the era came back and these three included Kane in the party. Nevertheless, from the looks of this picture, any heat is long gone.

13 Perhaps They’ll Tattoo Each Other?

Even in his early career, The Undertaker has not been above making all sorts of random appearances, including co-starring in the Hulk Hogan epic, Suburban Commando. He has made all kinds of appearances for the company over the years. But this must be one of the stranger ones.

Post Malone is currently one of music’s most polarizing stars. Evidently, he’s also a huge wrestling fan (because who isn’t?). When he brought his tour with him to Austin, Texas, the rapper thought it’d be a cool idea to have the Phenom deliver a devastating chokeslam to Malone himself.

12 The BSK Crew

via twitter.com

No list like this would be complete without going back to when The Undertaker didn't have to worry about social media when he would pose for a picture. As many fans know, WWE was known for having backstage cliques back in the 90s, and in response to The Kliq, The Undertaker had a little crew of his own, The Bone Street Krew. Here, we can see some members posing, including The Godfather, Yokozuna, Henry Godwinn, Savio Vega and Rikishi. The Undertaker is known for being loyal and he showed his loyalty to the crew by getting the 'BSK' tattoo on his torso.

11 A Phenom, A Superhero, And Goldberg

via sportskeeda.com

The list of people who respect The Undertaker might even surpass Ric Flair and Andre the Giant. From his work in the ring to how he commanded himself in the locker room, it all made him, “The Conscience Of The WWE.” So, when you get to hang out with The Phenom, you'd better take the opportunity.

Perhaps they always hung out on the road and this is just the only picture evidence that Shane Helms and The Undertaker ran in the same circle for a brief period of time. Or at the very least, saw the same MMA event in 2006, and got to catch up with big Bill Goldberg that night as well.

10 Scuba With His Son

With three marriages under his belt over the years, The Undertaker has a few more kids than his current marriage suggests he has. The Phenom’s first attempt at marriage was with a woman named Jodi Lynn. In 1993, The Deadman’s oldest son, Gunner, was born. He looks like a slimmed down version of his dad and actually graduated from Full Sail University.

You might think with his pedigree and where he got his degree from, that ‘Taker Jr.’s WWE bound. The kid actually is an aspiring video game artist, so there’s a better chance he’ll be animating his dad in a future 2K game than emulating him in the ring.

9 The Undertaker Embracing His Basketball Roots

via twitter.com

Lately Enes Kanter has been seen more and more behind the scenes at WWE, thanks to his connection with Dana Brooke. We've seen the New York Knicks star pose with various wrestlers, but it surely had to be a thrilling moment for him to pose with a legend like The Undertaker. The two actually have a few things in common as they both have roots in basketball (Taker was a college player at Texas), while Kanter of course is now a pro. The two have also had memorable moments in Madison Square Garden, which is the home of the Knicks and the unofficial home of the WWE.

8 A Wrestling Wedding

via twitter.com

As far as wrestling royalty is concerned, it doesn’t get a lot more royal than the people in this shot. It’s Ric Flair’s 85th time getting married (in reality his fifth) to Wendy Barlow, aka Fifi The Maid from his old WCW Flair For The Gold skits. In attendance were luminaries from all over the entertainment world.

Here The Undertaker poses with the happy newlyweds, as well as Hall Of Famer and head agent, Michael Hayes and the mother of The Great One, Ata Johnson. Any wrestling fan would give anything to be at that party.

7 Dinner Time In The Kingdom

Each and every one of these pictures is showcasing The Undertaker outside of the ring. This picture might be the biggest kayfabe-breaking shot there is during this era. It’s the Undertaker hanging out with Kurt Angle. They were having dinner around the time of the Greatest Royal Rumble.

Also in attendance at this dinner was one of the biggest rivals both men ever had, the current reigning and defending, well you know - Brock Lesnar. Even The Undertaker buried kayfabe a long time ago. The dinner seemed quite lavish, with every major star in attendance, with a clear pecking order in place, as the likes of Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns and Triple H sat closest to Vince himself.

6 Vince Embracing His Most Loyal Soldier

21-and-0 at WrestleMania. The Streak is still one of the most mythical and epic moments in all of WWE. Once it was acknowledged at WrestleMania XXI, who would face The Undertaker and attempt to topple The Streak would become one of the main events at the Showcase Of The Immortals.

Prior to his match at WrestleMania XXX, The Chairman embraces his greatest and most loyal superstar ever. Taker never left, never threatened to leave, and seldom caused a stink about anything. He didn’t even raise a stink about what was booked to happen just a few moments after this embrace - the heart-stopping and crowd-silencing end of The Streak.

5 Praising The Game

via reddit.com

Thy Kingdom Come was a 2013 Triple H video. Containing footage from WCW and WWE, it was, up until that point, the most comprehensive videography of The Game. There were also interviews with just about everyone you could imagine giving their opinions on the eventual head of the WWE.

But it also served as the first time ever on WWE TV (at least since the It’s My Yard ‘Taker set) that The Phenom would speak so candidly and so out of character about the business and the behind-the-scenes of it. ‘Taker shared his real-life opinions of DX and his advice that he gave the Cerebral Assassin about pursuing Stephanie McMahon.

4 A Different Side Of 'Taker

via independent.co.uk

When Michelle McCool started her social media accounts, she naturally wanted her husband, The Undertaker, to get into some of her pictures. Between how guarded he keeps his private life and the rarity of his WWE appearances, when he started appearing in his wife’s pictures - it was big-time wrestling news.

It was very bizarre to some would-be wrestling journalists to see The Undertaker so out of character. So much, in fact, that it led to completely fabricated reports on just what his condition was. Many jumped to conclusions that he was done wrestling, but sure enough, he's still around today.

3 Happy Birthday, Mark

via instagram.com

As all wrestling fans know, The Undertaker has continued to wrestle occasionally even though he's now well into his 50s. Even someone like The Phenom is mortal and every year he competes at WrestleMania, we have to remind ourselves that he's another year older. Well here, it seems 'Taker really let his guard down, as he (happily?) posed for a birthday picture with a special cake. Onnit, a fitness company, sent 'Taker this cake back in 2016 when The Phenom was celebrating his 51st birthday. 'Taker will be turning 54 this year and in what could be his final WrestleMania, we wonder whether Vince and co. will be offering him a farewell cake like this.

2 The Origins Of Deadman, Inc.

via tumblr.com

The Undertaker has always loved his motorcycles. From everyone’s accounts, the Big Evil incarnation of The Deadman was the closest to the real person Mark Calaway is than any other incarnation of The Undertaker - which makes him just a big Texas redneck who loves his motorcycles.

Perhaps the WWE was gearing up for that Deadman, Inc. run way back in the mid-90s when The Phenom was wearing purple and black with his face in zombie makeup. He’s sitting atop a custom Undertaker motorcycle. And no, that's not JJ Dillon in the background talking shop with another unknown employee.

1 WrestleMania Opponents Unwinding

via tumblr.com

The Undertaker was expected to face John Cena back at WrestleMania 32, but in the months leading up to the show, injuries ravaged the WWE roster, which led Vince to scramble in order to provide matchups big enough for WrestleMania. He surprisingly got his son Shane to return as an opponent for The Phenom. While the two had a match filled with perhaps the biggest bump of Shane's career, the two were always good friends behind the scenes and here, some fans were lucky enough to be in the same establishment as the two. Clearly, the two were good friends long before their 'Mania encounter.
