The National Wrestling Alliance revival, NWA Powerrr, has presented itself as an alternative to the other wrestling promotions working in the United States today. Unlike the big arena shows of WWE, AEW, Impact Wrestling, and Ring of Honor, the NWA owner Billy Corgan has created a studio show reminiscent of old-school wrestling at its best.

While NWA Powerrr has tried to build some new stars, they also brought in some very familiar faces from WWE and other big-time promotions to ensure that casual fans will recognize at least someone in the promotion. Outside of the big names like Nick Aldis and the Rock 'n' Roll Express, here are 10 recognizable wrestlers who work in NWA Powerrr.

Updated March 14, 2022 by Danny Djeljosevic: At the time of this list’s initial publication, the National Wrestling Alliance pretty much went dormant for nine months. Outside of matches held via United Wrestling Network’s UWN Primetime Live, no new in-ring NWA content aired after March 2020 until December of the same year. During those gap months, many NWA wrestlers moved on to bigger promotions while the NWA itself added new members to its roster to coincide with the new content. Since its return in late 2020, NWA’s been chugging along often under the radar, but there are still loads of recognizable wrestlers fans may not be aware spent time in the promotion.

13 * Tasha Steelz

Tasha Steelz in Impact Wrestling

Over the past couple of years, Tasha Steelz has been making an impression on fans through her run in Impact Wrestling, where she and Kiera Hogan (as Fire ‘n’ Flava) were the first to win Impact’s revived Knockouts Tag Team Championship. And, in 2022, Steelz defeated Mickie James at Sacrifice to become Knockouts Champion. But in 2019 and 2020 she had a handful of matches on NWA Powerrr, taking on Thunder Rosa, Marti Belle, and Melina, usually in losing efforts.

12 * Crimson

Crimson a.k.a. Anthony Mayweather in NWA

Speaking of Impact Wrestling, fans may remember Crimson for being the kayfabe big brother of Amazing Red. having a surprisingly big push that involved Goldberg-esque undefeated streak, and a forgotten tag title run with Matt Morgan. After a few runs and appearances on Impact throughout the 2010s, Crimson made his debut for NWA in 2021, initially teaming with his War Kings tag team partner Jax Dane before going solo and working under the name Anthony Mayweather. In 2022, he defeated Chris Adonis (a.k.a. Chris Masters) to become the new NWA National Heavyweight Champion.

11 * Eddie Kingston

Eddie Kingston on NWA Powerrr

Since showing up as a surprise challenger to Cody Rhodes’ TNT Championship in 2020 and subsequently getting signed, Eddie Kingston has been a beloved staple of All Elite Wrestling’s programming. In his AEW stint, Kingston has had big matches against Jon Moxley, Miro, Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, and Chris Jericho.

All of that makes it easy to forget that he had a run in the rebooted NWA as well. Not only did Eddie Kingston reform Outlaw Inc. with his old partner Homicide, taking a couple unsuccessful shots at the World Tag Team Title, but he also competed in the tournament to crown a new Television Champion, losing to Ricky Starks in the first round.

10 Aron Stevens

Damien Sandow

Aron Stevens has won the NWA National Championship and the NWA World Tag Team Championship with JR Kratos on NWA Powerrr. He is also better known as former WWE superstar Damien Sandow.

In WWE, Sandow was one of the few people to fail when cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase. He was also a former tag team champion with The Miz. After WWE, Sandow went to TNA and then briefly retired before returning as an arrogant and delusional heel for NWA Powerrr.

9 James Storm

Cowboy James Storm is one of the most successful wrestlers in the history of TNA Impact Wrestling. With 17 title reigns in TNA, he is second to only AJ Styles when it comes to championship success in that company.

Many thought Storm was going to WWE when he made an appearance in NXT, but he opted not to sign. Instead, he went to NWA Powerrr, where he has held the National Championship and tag team titles once each.

8 * Eli Drake (a.k.a. LA Night)

Eli Drake

Eli Drake was someone that many fans thought should have been the top star in Impact Wrestling. He was a great promo, learning under The American Dream Dusty Rhodes, and was solid in the ring.

However, he never got a sustained push there. Drake had experience in the NWA, working for NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood in 2010. In 2019, Drake signed with NWA Powerrr and won the Tag Team Title once with James Storm, and signed to WWE in 2021, adopting a new ring name: L.A. Knight.

7 Ken Anderson

In WWE, Mr. Kennedy got a massive push with a specialized entrance where he would do his own introduction with a mic dropped from the ceiling. However, he only won one title with the U.S. Championship, and a proposed world title reign was killed due to his injury history.

He moved on to TNA, where he became Mr. Anderson and won the world title there twice. In 2019, Mr. Anderson made his NWA Powerrr debut, working with James Storm, Eli Drake, and Colt Cabana.

6 * Trevor Murdoch

If there is one professional wrestler that was built for an NWA promotion, it is Trevor Murdoch. The man already based his appearance and character on the classic heel, Captain Redneck Dick Murdoch.

Fans likely remember Murdoch from his stint as a former WWE tag team champion with the late Lance Cade. Working as one of the regular talents on NWA Powerrr, he tried to win the NWA TV Championship, but successfully captured the National Championship and even dethroned Nick Aldis in a classic match to become NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

5 * Allysin Kay

Allysin Kay was the first NWA World Women's Championship on NWA Powerrr by beating Santana Garrett to fill the title, which had been vacant since 2016. She held it for 272 days before dropping it to Thunder Rose at Hard Times. She would go on to capture the revived Women's Tag Team Championship alongside Marti Belle.

For fans who recognize her but not the name, Kay wrestled in TNA as Sienna, a two-time Knockouts Champion and also took part in the Mae Young Classic in WWE in 2018, losing to Mia Yim.

4 Homicide

Homicide has been around the block and back more than once. He is a former Ring of Honor World Champion and held tag titles in TNA three times on top of one reign with the company's X-Division Championship.

He has worked in most of the major indies, and has been showing up in NWA Powerrr since 2019. Like in TNA, he initially worked the tag team division, this time with Eddie Kingston as his partner.

3 Thom Latimer

Thomas Latimer and Royce Isaacs shocked the world when they teamed up and ended up making it to the semi-finals of the 2019 Crocket Cup Tournament.

They did more than that when they joined Nick Aldis' faction, Strictly Business, and won the NWA World Tag Team Championship from Villain Enterprises (Brody King and PCO). For those wondering, Latimer was Bram in TNA, a former King of the Mountain Champion. He left TNA in 2017.

2 Matt Cross

Matt Cross showed up in NWA Powerrr, and while independent wrestling fans know who he is, some mainstream fans know him by another name. Cross worked for Lucha Underground under the name Son of Havoc.

He was a three-time Lucha Underground Trios Champion, twice with AEW star Angelico and Ivelisse and once with Killshot and Willie Mack. Cross also worked for Ring of Honor for three years and was part of WWE's Tough Enough in 2011.

1 Melina

In 2019, NWA Powerrr gained a former WWE Women's Champion when Melina joined the promotion. She joined up in November 2019 and started a faction with Marti Belle and Thunder Rosa, helping them take the NWA women's title away from Allysin Kay.

Melina initially made her name by working as the manager for MNM (John Morrison and Joey Mercury) in WWE. She went on to win the WWE Women's Championship three times and won the WWE Divas Championship twice.
