NXT is unlike the rest of WWE when it comes to creating its top stars. Instead of just bouncing titles from one wrestler to the next without a care in the world, NXT hitches itself to a top star and lets them carry the company. The brand allows long title reigns, and when the wrestlers lose the titles, it is usually time for them to move on to the main roster.

However, there are some rare cases where a wrestler has more than one title reign in NXT. On a few occasions, these title reigns came close to each other with a champion winning the title and then losing it only to recapture it in a short time. However, there are other moments where someone can dominate for an extended period and one moment where someone returned years later to win the title again.

7 Finn Balor

Finn Balor

Finn Balor was, at one time, considered the greatest NXT Champion of all time. When he signed with WWE in 2014, Balor started in NXT and won the NXT Title from Kevin Owens in July 2015. Balor was the seventh champion for NXT and broke Neville's record for the longest reign at 292 days.

Balor left NXT when he lost the title and stayed on the main roster for a few years before returning. Adam Cole ended up breaking his record with an impressive 403-day title reign. In 2020, Balor won the title for a second time and looks to regain his spot as the longest-reigning titleholder in history.

6 Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe stands in history as the first person to ever win the NXT Championship two times. Joe showed up in NXT and was as dominating as he was in his previous stops in Ring of Honor and TNA, and did the same thing he did in both of those promotions by winning the top title. Joe's first win came over Finn Balor, ending the 292-day title reign.

Joe held the title for 121 days before losing it to Shinsuke Nakamura at TakeOver: Brooklyn II. Most people expected Joe to follow the path of other past NXT Champions and move on up. However, Joe had other plans and won the title back from Shinsuke at TakeOver: Toronto for his second title reign. That one lasted 13 days before Nakamura won it back in Japan.

5 Shinsuke Nakamura

Shinsuke Nakamura

As mentioned, Samoa Joe was the first man to win the NXT Championship two times when he beat Finn Balor, lost it to Shinsuke Nakamura, and then won it back from Nakamura 91 days later. However, the Japanese sensation matched Joe's mark when he beat him in Japan to win the title in December 2016.

The second NXT title reign for Nakamura ended up shorter than his first one. After holding the belt for just 56 days, he lost the title to Bobby Roode at TakeOver: San Antonio, giving way for Roode to ride to a 203-day title run as Nakamura moved up to the main roster.

4 Shayna Baszler

The NXT Women's Championship was one that featured a limited number of long-term champions. Paige, Charlotte Flair, and Bayley had title reigns that lasted over 200 days, Sasha Banks held the belt for 191 days, and Asuka held it for a record-setting 522 days, never losing it before moving to the main roster.

Shayna Baszler also had a record-setting run with the title, but that was only after becoming the first woman to win the NXT Women's Championship more than once. Baszler beat Ember Moon for the title in 2017 and held it for 132 days. She lost it to Kairi Sane but won it back and went on a 416-day title reign, for a record total of 548 days as champion.

3 Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair was the second-ever NXT Women's Champion, following Paige, who surrendered the title to move to the main roster. Charlotte won the title in the tournament at the first-ever NXT: TakeOver event by beating Natalya. She then went on an impressive 258-day title reign before losing the belt to Sasha Banks.

Charlotte then went to the main roster and won more women's titles than any female in history. To top it off, she went back to NXT in 2020 and won the title for the second time by beating Rhea Ripley.

2 The Revival

The Revival

In 2015, The Revival became just the fifth team ever to win the NXT Tag Team Championship. They beat The Vaudevillains for the belts and went on to enjoy a nice 162-day title run.

They had great feuds with everyone from American Alpha and DIY to the Authors of Pain. In 2016, they lost the titles to American Alpha and then won them back for a second reign that lasted 164 more days. DIY finally ended that reign, and then The Revival became the first team in WWE history to win the NXT, Raw, and SmackDown tag team titles.

1 The Undisputed Era

Undisputed Era

The most successful tag team in NXT history arrived in 2017 and took the world by storm. While Adam Cole became the longest-reigning NXT Champion in history, his partners in the Undisputed Era did the same thing with the tag team titles. They hold both the record for the most title reigns and the longest.

The team consisted of three men in Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, and Roderick Strong, as they utilized the Freebird Rule. Their first reign started in 2017 when they beat SAnity, the second in 2018 when they beat Moustache Mountain, and their third in 2019 when they knocked off the Street Profits, making them the only three-time champions in NXT history.
