In a show that was never supposed to happen, NXT raided Friday Night SmackDown, took out WWE stars and declared war for Survivor Series.

Guest commentator Pat McAfee said it ad nauseam when he repeated, "The best SmackDown ever, November 1, 2019", but he wasn't far off in the eyes of many fans who tuned in on Friday night not knowing what to expect.

After word dropped that most of the WWE roster from the Saudi Arabia show was stuck due to "mechanical issues" with the airplane and wouldn't make it in time for SmackDown's live show, WWE went into re-write mode. Rumors were the company was flying in talent from NXT to work alongside the members of the SmackDown roster that were still present and what WWE delivered was a fantastic show where NXT stars invaded, answered what they deemed a challenge for Survivor Series and took out stars like Daniel Bryan, The Miz, Bayley and Sasha Banks, among others.

The show started with Brock Lesnar quitting SmackDown but moved quickly to a focus on NXT. The first to show up was NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler, but she was quickly followed by Matt Riddle and Keith Lee, Bianca Belair, Tommaso Ciampa, Rhea Ripley and Adam Cole, just to name a few.

Systematically, NXT stars took out SmackDown talent and called it NXT answering a challenge set forth one day earlier when WWE promoted NXT would be a part of Survivor Series for the first time in the pay-per-view's history. WWE may not have planned the show this way, but it was a perfect way to tease what fans can expect at Survivor Series.

For the duration of the show, fans were eating up the action, amazed that what was seen as such an unfortunate circumstance was turned into such a happy accident. The icing on the cake, of course, was the main event of Cole vs Bryan for the NXT Championship.

WWE Made Lemonade Out Lemons

This show could have gone terribly wrong, but with Triple H clearly running things from behind the curtain, history was made as NXT invaded the show and fans forgot all about the fact Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns and others weren't in attendance.

Well done WWE. You certainly were able to make lemonade out of lemons on this particular night.
