To help fill out the 30-person limit for the first ever female Royal Rumble match, WWE plans on calling up a number of NXT talents.
WWE’s Royal Rumble event is fast approaching, and this year they are pulling out a first-time ever! WWE will be having a Women’s Royal Rumble. This won’t be like the WrestleMania 25 battle royal that Santina won, WWE does not want to make a joke out of this, and they don’t want it to be lesser than the men.
This has led to WWE having the same rules as a normal Royal Rumble match added to the female match. On top of this, also like the men, 30 women will be part of the match. Now, this is pretty awesome—but a problem exists. WWE does not have 30 active women on the main roster right now.
This has led to speculation that the company could be bringing in past legends. It was reported recently that the likes of Michelle McCool and Molly Holly were called about taking part already. However, the bulk of the remaining spots are going to be filled by WWE NXT women.
WWE Bringing Up Nine Women For Rumble Match
According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE spoke to the Superstars at the Performance Center recently about the Rumble match. They were told that around nine women would be taking part in the match from the NXT brand.
The biggest catch in all of this was that they did not tell the talent, at the time, who among them would be in the match. They’re likely still deciding on the Superstars they feel are worthy of such a thing, which makes sense in the end.
A number of women could be involved here. The interesting situation is thinking about all of the women that make the most sense in the end. What some assume is that this will be based on NXT seniority, so you won’t see a talent who just walked in, for example.
The Likely Choices To Go In
There are some likely choices from NXT that make sense for the match. Women such as the current NXT Women’s Champion Ember Moon and the Mae Young Classic winner Kairi Sane. Both women are too big right now to NOT add in.
However, you could also add in the Iconic Duo of Peyton Royce and Billy Kay and SAnitY’s craziest member, Nikki Cross. All three are likely going to be part of the main roster full-time this year anyway. WWE also just signed a few names like Candice LaRea and it is rumored that they signed Serena Deep. Both could be useful to this match as well.
The most important thing to remember is that the appearances of these women are likely just that. They are probably not getting official call-ups just yet. So they’ll all go back to NXT after the match and some will debut after WrestleMania 34.
