The "Women's Revolution" in WWE really got started in NXT. It was there that the ladies in the company were first given the opportunity to prove that they could be just as good, if not better than their male counterparts. They delivered in almost every chance they got.

Paige and Emma shined on the first NXT special. Charlotte Flair and Natalya stole the show at the inaugural TakeOver. Since then, the women have been a highlight and the matches only got better from there. From championship contests to grudge matches to multi-woman bouts, the ladies have saved their best work for TakeOver events.

10 Bianca Belair vs. Rhea Ripley - TakeOver: Portland

Bianca Belair lifts Rhea Ripley

After Rhea Ripley captured the NXT Women's Championship in a classic TV match against Shayna Baszler, she had a disappointing defense against Toni Storm at Worlds Collide. Thankfully, her next title defense delivered in spades as she faced "The EST of NXT," Bianca Belair.

This was one of the more unique women's matches in NXT history because both participants are powerhouses. They threw each other around and leveled one another with stiff shots. In the end, Ripley retained with the Riptide in what was Belair's best solo performance.

9 Kairi Sane vs. Shayna Baszler - TakeOver: Brooklyn IV

Kairi Sane and Shayna Baszler size each other up

Shayna Baszler has always been dominant. Other than a fluke loss to Ember Moon at TakeOver: Philadelphia, her only other defeat to this point came at the hands of Kairi Sane in the finals of the Mae Young Classic. Could Sane pull it off twice?

Indeed she could. Sane played the underdog role expertly, looking like she might get destroyed by Baszler. However, she kept finding ways to survive and score some near falls. Baszler trapped her in the Kirifuda Clutch, only for Sane to turn that into a pinning combination to steal the win and the NXT Women's Title.

8 Dakota Kai vs. Tegan Nox - TakeOver: Portland

Dakota Kai vs Tegan Nox

The only event to feature two entries on this list is TakeOver: Portland. This wasn't about a title, as it was the most personal battle in women's TakeOver history. Dakota Kai viciously turned on her best friend Tegan Nox during War Games and put her on the shelf.

Tegan returned and that set up this Street Fight. It was about as violent a women's match as you'll see anywhere. They wailed on each other with various weapons and showed how bitter the rivalry had become. Interference from Raquel Gonzalez, sending Nox through a table, helped Kai score the win.

7 Asuka vs. Ember Moon - TakeOver: Brooklyn III

Ember Moon hits the Eclipse on Asuka

Asuka was literally unbeatable in NXT. She had reigned as NXT Women's Champion for over a year and was coming up on two years of being undefeated here. Her biggest challenge was Ember Moon, as Asuka resorted to a cheap tactic to beat her at TakeOver: Orlando.

Moon earned a rematch at NXT's biggest show of the year. She came out firing on all cylinders, giving Asuka even more trouble than she did the first time around. However, Asuka didn't need to resort to anything underhanded here. She just flat out beat her to remain unbeaten.

6 Bayley vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks - TakeOver: Rival

Imagine this match happening today. The Four Horsewomen of NXT all competing in one fantastic outing for the NXT Women's Championship. In early 2015, that's just what happened and each woman had their own story coming in.

Charlotte Flair was the reigning champion for over eight months. Bayley had come up short several times. Becky Lynch was just finding her footing as a relevant player. Meanwhile, Sasha Banks had come closer than anyone to dethroning Charlotte. After some incredible action, Banks finally made good on that and won the title.

5 Team Rhea Ripely vs. Team Shayna Baszler - TakeOver: War Games III

When NXT brought back the War Games concept, fans were ecstatic. The first two they put on turned out to be pretty great. But when the women got the chance to have theirs, they absolutely stole the show. Team Rhea consisted of herself, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae, and Dakota Kai (after an injury to Mia Yim). Team Shayna was herself, Io Shirai, Bianca Belair, and Kay Lee Ray.

The match was brutal and filled with twists and turns. When Kai turned on Nox, it effectively removed both from the match, meaning Ripley and LeRae were down 4-2. Still, they rallied and after Ripley hit Baszler with the Riptide on a chair, Team Rhea emerged victorious.

4 Candice LeRae vs. Io Shirai - TakeOver: Toronto

Another match that wasn't for a title but about something personal. Candice LeRae often came to Io Shirai's side when she found herself outnumbered against Shayna Baszler and her friends. A frustrated Io turned heel and attacked Candice to set up this meeting.

The new version of Io Shirai was a vicious one. She hit hard and used aggressive submissions. Candice brought all of her fire and energy but it just wasn't enough. When she kicked out of a moonsault, Io resorted to a submission. To add to it, she prevented Candice from tapping, deciding to choke her out instead.

3 Bayley vs. Sasha Banks - TakeOver: Respect

Sasha Banks and Bayley made history at almost every step during their NXT careers. This was their biggest milestone by a long shot. Not only was this the first time women competed in an Ironman match but it was also their first chance to main event a TakeOver.

The two put on a show for 30 minutes, featuring highlights like Sasha stealing a Bayley headband from her biggest fan at ringside, making the little girl cry. Sasha was always a step ahead but Bayley was too resilient. She came back to tie the score and then win in the final seconds. It marked the end of their storied rivalry.

2 Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks - TakeOver: Unstoppable

It's a real shame that this classic is often overlooked. Soon after Sasha Banks won the NXT Women's Title, she defended it against her former Team B.A.E. (Best at Everything) partner, Becky Lynch. Coming into this, Lynch had yet to make an impact in NXT.

That changed with this incredible match. Though Becky lost, she gained the respect of the crowd. After barely reacting to her during her entrance, they were singing her song and giving her a standing ovation following the bell. Becky went from irrelevant to the main roster in just a few months, mostly because of this performance.

1 Bayley vs. Sasha Banks - TakeOver: Brooklyn

Sasha Banks may not have had the longest reign as NXT Women's Champion but it's clear that she is as important as anyone to the division. At TakeOver: Brooklyn, after having already been called up to the main roster, Banks defended her title against Bayley.

The story was that Bayley was the one Horsewomen to not get the promotion. She felt left behind and had to prove that she was as good as them. The title fight was unbelievable, from the offense used to the storytelling to the incredible atmosphere. Bayley finally reached the mountaintop after winning in what many consider the greatest women's match in wrestling history.
