The NXT Women's Championship is one of the top prizes in wrestling right now, with the title having an incredible lineage with some amazing wrestlers having held it. From members of The Four Horsewomen to new stars like Rhea Ripley and Io Shirai, the title has had some incredible moments.

Some of the greatest women's matches in WWE history have taken place for the NXT Women's Championship and that has only increased its legacy. But not everyone who has managed to challenge for the title has been successful, no matter how many times they try, some women just can't capture the gold in NXT.

10 Mia Yim (10 Matches)

MiaYim

Mia Yim was pulled out of NXT before she'd fully achieved her full potential, as she was called up to the main roster to become part of RETRIBUTION. However, she did manage to have 10 NXT Women's Championship matches before that happened.

Mia would've been a great champion because of her experience at the top level of women's wrestling, yet each time she fell just short instead.

9 Sonya Deville (11 Matches)

Sonya Deville WWE

Whether she was working as Sonya Deville or her previous name, Daria Berenato, she was always used as a threat for the NXT Women's Championship. While her title opportunities were all kept to live events, she did get to compete against both Asuka and Ember Moon during their title reigns.

Sonya hadn't quite been developed in NXT, with her best moments for WWE taking place on the main roster. Because of that, she wasn't quite seen as a main threat for the title.

8 Billie Kay (12 Matches)

Billie Kay

Billie Kay might be best known for being a tag team specialist alongside Peyton Royce (more on her later), she still got plenty of shots at the NXT Women's Championship during her time on the brand.

Billie was always incredibly entertaining, and her in-ring skills are certainly often overlooked. Billie's biggest opportunity came at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio in a fatal four-way which also featured Royce, yet The IIconics weren't able to earn a title on the black-and-gold brand.

7 Candice LeRae (16 Matches)

Candice LeRae

Candice LeRae is someone who has very recently been involved in the NXT Women's Championship scene but hasn't quite managed to win the title. However, there is still time for that to change for LeRae, due to her still being on the NXT roster.

Candice is seen as one of the greatest in-ring workers of her generation, and that has been shown in some of her title matches. However, she's yet to win the title, which is a real shame.

6 Bianca Belair (17 Matches)

Bianca Belair WWE

Bianca Belair is certainly someone who deserved to have a run with the NXT Women's Championship and had she been in NXT a little longer that would likely have happened. Belair certainly had the charisma and in-ring skill to earn the title, but WWE always had her just fall short.

Whether she was battling against Rhea Ripley or pushing Shayna Baszler to her absolute limits, Belair has had some great encounters, which have helped to make her a real star without even having the title.

5 Emma (20 Matches)

Emma WWE

Emma was actually involved in the first-ever NXT Women's Championship match against Paige, and while she fell short on that moment, Emma remained a constant threat for the title throughout her career.

Emma was an amazing talent who was very underrated when it comes to her impact on the Women's Revolution in WWE. She certainly deserved a run with the title, but her booking was just a little too inconsistent to bring that to reality.

4 Nia Jax (20 Matches)

Asuka vs Nia Jax

"The Irresistible Force" Nia Jax was incredibly dominant during her time in NXT, having some really physically dominant matches on NXT. She worked against the likes of Bayley and Asuka, having some really entertaining title matches along the way.

However, she never managed to win the NXT Women's Championship, despite her very strong push. Nia was always a threat, and someone who was involved in the title scene, but she never actually won the big one.

3 Peyton Royce (25 Matches)

Peyton-Royce

Much like Billie Kay, Peyton Royce is best known for being a tag team wrestler, yet she managed to have a staggering 25 matches for the NXT Women's Championship. Peyton was often pushed into the title scene, particularly on live events, which showcases the trust that management had in her.

Peyton has always been a talent in the ring, and her over-the-top facial expressions only made her even more entertaining when she was pushing for the title, especially against Asuka.

2 Alexa Bliss (25 Matches)

Alexa Bliss

Considering how dominant Alexa Bliss has been on the main roster, whether it be in singles or tag team competition, it is very shocking that she never won the NXT Women's Championship.

However, Alexa was involved in the title scene plenty of times throughout her career, and while she hadn't quite reached the peak of her character work or in-ring ability in NXT, she was always able to put on a great match.

1 Nikki Cross (28 Matches)

Nikki Cross

Nikki Cross might actually be surprising for the woman who has had the most title shots, purely because she spent a long period of time in NXT as part of SAnitY, not always being part of the title picture.

However, Nikki was always exciting when she was in the championship picture because she was completely different from anything else on the roster. Her contests against Asuka were always incredible as well, which helped prove she was far more than just part of a faction.
