The list of problems with TNA wrestling is an extremely long one, however, one glaring issue was the lack of young, potential stars that could help bring sustained success to the company. In an attempt at boosting their ratings, TNA resorted to utilizing wrestling legends that are way past their physical prime in their matches.

While fans are aware of TNA's motives for featuring older talent, many still enjoyed these attention-grabbing matches that featured aging stars coming back to the ring.

10 Kevin Nash: 51 Years Old

At the Bound For Glory pay-per-view on October 10th 2010, Kevin Nash competed in his final TNA match before leaving the company for WWE in 2011. In this match, the 51-year-old Nash teamed with Sting and Dinero to face Jeff Jarrett and Samoa Joe in a 3-on-2 handicap match.

The match was originally slated to be a 6-man tag-team match, however, Hogan had to pull out of the match due to back surgery. This wouldn't be Nash's final wrestling match, as he would appear on the independent circuit on and off for the next 6 years.

9 Scott Hall: 51 Years Old

Scott Hall competed in his final TNA match at 52-years-old on the June 10th, 2010 episode of Impact!. Hall teamed with Kevin Nash to defeat Matt Morgan in a 2-on-1 handicap match in a fairly uneventful match.

Despite holding on half of the tag-team championships, this was Hall's final appearance on TNA due to Hall's real-life legal issues he was facing at the time. A week later, Hall and Nash were stripped of their titles, and Hall was also released from TNA after an 8-year run.

8 Randy Savage: 52 Years Old

At 52 years-old, Randy Savage was a prominent figure on TNA television. When Savage made his TNA debut in 2004, he was immediately placed in a feud with the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett.

Savage's final match would occur during the buildup of this program on December 5th, 2004 when he teamed with Jeff Hardy and A.J. Styles to defeat "The Kings of Wrestling". Savage never got to face Jarrett as he left TNA 3 days after his final match as a result of him disagreeing with the proposed finish with Jarrett.

7 Al Snow: 52 Years Old

On a December 8th, 2016 episode of Impact Wrestling, Al Snow teamed with Shera in a tag-team double-strap match against The Tribunal to conclude their feud that spanned over a month.

The 52-year-old Snow would remain employed by TNA for several months after his last match here, however, he was subsequently released from his contract on June 19th, 2017. Thankfully this didn't place a financial strain on Snow as he purchased his own wrestling promotion in 2018.

6 Sting: 54 years old

Sting's final TNA match occurred on January 23rd, 2014 on an episode of Impact Wrestling: Genesis. Sting's opponent was Magnus, who held the TNA World Championship at the time.

The match stipulation was Title Vs. Career, as Sting losing would force him to leave the company. Sting would lose and actually leave TNA to sign with WWE less than a month later. Thankfully this wasn't his last match and fans could see him on a large stage for a few more matches.

5 Ken Shamrock: 55 Years Old

On the November 6th, 2019 episode of Impact!, Ken Shamrock faced Joey Ryan after Ryan had challenged him the week prior. Shamrock won the match and was his first winning effort in a wrestling match since 2002.

This was both Shamrock's final TNA match and the final wrestling match overall. Several months later Shamrock was inducted into the Impact hall of fame.

4 Scott Steiner: 56 Years Old

Despite Scott Steiner not being the oldest wrestler on this list, he was given the biggest indicator that he may be too old to handle the in-ring competition. On August 2nd, 2019 Scott Steiner competed in a six-man tag-team match at TNA's Unbreakable pay-per-view.

Although this match went fine, several months later at an Impact! taping Steiner collapsed backstage and had stopped breathing to the point where paramedics had to shock his heart with a defibrillator. Steiner's cardiovascular issues have led many medical experts to point out that he shouldn't wrestle again.

3 Bob Backlund: 57 Years Old

Unlike some wrestlers on this list, Backlund's last TNA match wasn't the last wrestling match of his career.

Nonetheless, Backlund's final match in TNA occurred on July 15th, 2007 at the Victory Road pay-per-view. The 57-year-old Backlund teamed with Jerry Lynn to face Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin in a losing effort. Despite there being no retirement stipulations, Backlund's time with TNA was up shortly after this match.

2 Hulk Hogan: 58 Years Old

Hulk Hogan in TNA

On October 16th, 2011, Hulk Hogan competed in his final TNA match against Sting at the company's premier pay-per-view, Bound For Glory. The storyline stipulation of the match was that if Hogan lost to Sting he would be forced to resign as president of TNA and give control back to Dixie Carter.

TNA used this opportunity to turn Hulk Hogan back into a babyface by graciously putting over Sting. In addition to this being Hogan's last TNA match, it was also his final televised wrestling match to date.

1 Ric Flair: 62 Years Old

The oldest wrestler to compete in TNA was Ric Flair on the September 15th, 2011 episode of Impact Wrestling. The 62-year-old Flair squared off against Sting in what would be the last match of his career.

The match stipulation was simple if Sting lost he would have to retire, and if Sting won he would be granted an opportunity to face Hulk Hogan at the next pay-per-view. Ultimately Sting would defeat Flair with Flair suffering from legitimate injuries in the process. Let's just say Flair's WWE retirement match with Shawn Michaels was much more entertaining than this one.
