Two-time Diva Champion Paige has slammed WWE for the way it books female stars.

The former in-ring performer recently took up a contributor role for the promotion's studio show, WWE Backstage. And it appears that she will be the voice of the women's division therein.

Speaking as a guest on Corey Graves' new podcast After The Bell, the 27-year-old had some criticism for WWE over its treatment of females in recent times. The all-female WWE Evolution event was considered to be one of the company's best PPVs of 2018 but was surprisingly not brought back this year.

Paige was not best pleased.

“Don’t even get me started with that, dude," she said to Corey. "I don’t understand why we don’t have another girls’ pay-per-view. We had that one-off deal, what the hell’s that about? Give us one every year, what the f***? That’s the whole purpose. We had a Women’s Evolution for a reason.

“And, you know what, f*** it, let’s stop talking about the Women’s Evolution and actually just let the women do what they want, and I just feel like a lot of the girls are being held back.”

A fair assessment from the former NXT Women's champ, no?

Back in October, Stephanie McMahon told Bleacher Report the reason behind the all-female PPV not returning in 2019. Stephanie claimed that WWE did consider bringing the show back but focused on the first-ever women's Saudi Arabia match instead.

Guess We Couldn't Have Both

The match, which took place between Natalya and Lacey Evans, was a historic moment for the company, given the strict stipulations over what women can and cannot do in the Middle Eastern State.

Whether it meant that another women's PPV couldn't be a thing this year certainly beckons debate.

Hopefully, though, the show will make a comeback in 2020.
