The Rock Personally Told Paige She'd Make Her WWE Debut

The news that Paige would be making her main roster debut the night after WrestleMania XXX was broken to her by The Rock.

Paige has recently returned to WWE television after an extremely turbulent year and a half. The former Divas' Champion was last seen on Raw before the draft took place during the summer of 2016 and since then, she has been through an awful lot. From failed drug tests to her private photos being leaked to a very serious neck surgery, Paige has certainly been through the ringer as of late.

That's why it was extremely gratifying to see Paige make a triumphant return to Raw a few weeks ago. The British star interrupted a number one contender's match for the Raw Women's Championship and along with NXT call-ups, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville has been running rough shot on the roster ever since. As of right now, it seems that WWE is beginning the build to a match between her and Asuka.

While Paige was reported on frequently during her time away, no one other than her knows the full story. That's why she decided to appear on the latest episode of Lilian Garcia's podcast Chasing Glory. Paige opened up about the troubles she's had over the past year, but also discussed other aspects of her life and career. One extremely interesting anecdote was a story that took place the night before she debuted on Raw for the first time back in 2014.

Paige debuted on the main roster the night after WrestleMania XXX, winning the Divas' Championship from AJ Lee. She told Lilian during their interview that she didn't know she was going to debut until the night before and was given the news by none other than The Rock. Paige was told that Rock wanted to see her, and the first thing he told her was that she would be debuting the following night. The main reason he wanted to talk to her though was to discuss turning her and her family's life in and out of the ring into a movie. That has, of course, come to fruition and will be hitting screens sometime in 2018.

There likely aren't many Superstars who can boast having the news that they were going to debut on the main roster broken to them by The Rock. With the dawn of NXT, most current wrestlers likely get to share that moment with Triple H. That plus so much more is reason to give Paige's interview with Lilian Garcia a listen. Paige goes into a lot of detail about the last year of her life and any fans of hers will be relieved to hear that she's back on Raw following what she went through over the course of the past 12 months.
