Paul Heyman got a taste of his own medicine on Tuesday's episode of SmackDown, when general manager Daniel Bryan cut a promo where he mocked Brock Lesnar's advocate.
Bryan offered to be an advocate for AJ Styles, telling him they believe in treating their champions right. Bryan introduced himself as "the advocate of the reigning, defending, undisputed WWE Champion of the world— the phenomenal AJ Styles," in a Heyman-like voice.
Well, Heyman issued a warning to Bryan after taking a shot at him and the Universal Champion.
. @WWE The role of an #Advocate is 2 spin 2 the @WWEUniverse, but speak brutal blunt truth 2your client. @AJStylesOrg has been sorely misled by @WWEDanielBryan. I continue 2 admire AJ's talent and still look forward 2 extolling his virtues after he's victimized by @BrockLesnar! https://t.co/yhFgJLjZj0— Paul Heyman (@HeymanHustle) November 15, 2017
After defeating Jinder Mahal on last week's episode of SmackDown to become the new WWE Champion, Styles also set to face Lesnar at Survivor Series.
Though Bryan got his shot at Heyman and Lesnar, it was Team Raw who wound up with the last laugh. The Shield and Kurt Angle led a siege against Team SmackDown, brutally attacking the entire roster—especially commissioner Shane McMahon.
This year's edition of Survivor Series is shaping up to be one of the better ones in recent memory. In the men's five-on-five interbrand match, we'll see five legends in Triple H, Shane McMahon, John Cena, Kurt Angle, and Randy Orton. The other five stars look to be the future faces of WWE, in Finn Balor, Braun Strowman, Robby Roode, Samoa Joe, and Shinsuke Nakamura.
But the Styles vs. Lesnar match has the potential to be the show of the night. It'll feature two of the company's brightest and most decorated performers. Though Mahal vs. Lesnar had lots of intrigue (given their large statures and habits of squashing opponents), Styles offers more in-ring talent to steal the show.
We'll find out Sunday if Styles can conquer The Beast, or if Lesnar will continue his dominance over the rest of the roster.
