10 Post Royal Rumble Rumors We Hope Are True (And 5 We Hope Aren't)

The 2018 Royal Rumble event turned out to be a historic one for WWE, who seemingly turned a new leaf in some aspects as The Road to WrestleMania officially kicked off with this event. The Rumble saw Shinsuke Nakamura win the Men's Royal Rumble match, becoming the first ever Asian-born wrestler to do so, while Asuka made history by winning the inaugural Women's Royal Rumble match. But now as we're slowly moving into WrestleMania season, there are rumors flying everywhere regarding the storylines which will happen going forward and what's in the future of these superstars.

As the matches for WrestleMania are beginning to slowly shape up, there have been a lot of rumors spreading about what plans the WWE has for their stars ahead of the mega-event in April. There are some which are really good for a few wrestlers who deserve the success coming to them, while there are certain others which can actually be harmful to certain superstars.

While the rumors are to be taken with a grain of salt, many of them tend to come true which is why the rumors heading into WrestleMania season are interesting, to say the least. So let's take a look at some of the rumors which will hopefully come true going into WrestleMania season and beyond, and a few which hopefully won't because of how badly they can mess things up.

15 True: Ronda Rousey Vs Charlotte Flair At WrestleMania

via youtube.com

Ronda Rousey shocked everyone when she appeared at the end of the Royal Rumble and pointed towards the WrestleMania sign, signaling how she's gunning for her debut match at the grandest stage of them all. The former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion eyed both Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss in the ring and just like before she signed with WWE, there were rumors of her facing Charlotte at Mania. It could be a great match considering how well Charlotte can work with anyone and can also help Rousey produce a memorable debut. This match can be really good if booked properly and one can hope that it becomes a reality because of how it can help both Charlotte and Rousey establish themselves as the top women in WWE. This match could do Rousey a whole lot of good, as she can produce a match to remember against the "Queen of WWE".

14 True: Drew McIntyre Re-Debuts On The Main Roster

via wwe.com

Drew McIntyre had an unlucky end to an otherwise great 2017, which saw him return to the WWE and assert himself as a dominant main-eventer on WWE NXT. He seems to have become even better over the years and looks like a proper star now, with a WWE NXT Championship reign proving how high WWE are on him. But an injury suffered during his loss to Andrade "Cien" Almas shelved immediate plans for him to get the main roster call as he was ruled out for a few months. He's been recovering well and recently posted pictures of him training with Jinder Mahal and Sheamus, with rumors suggesting he could return directly to the main roster soon. That could be great as McIntyre deserves another shot at success at the top of WWE and is hopefully properly pushed upon his re-debut on the main roster.

13 Not True: Paige Unable To Wrestle Anymore

via thesun.co.uk

Paige looked to be in great shape after returning from a long hiatus from WWE a few months ago, where she brought some "friends" alongside her and created Absolution with Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose. But things turned sour for her again when she took an awful bump during a match at a live event and hasn't been able to wrestle anymore in WWE. That bump triggered her persisting neck issues, as it apparently ended her in-ring career if the rumors are to be believed. Paige acknowledged her injury on Raw a few weeks ago and has been at the side of her buddies after that, which gives us some hope that talks about her career being over are inaccurate. Paige still has a long, bright career ahead of her, so one can only hope that she can quickly recover and get back in the ring as soon as possible.

12 True: Braun Strowman Wins A Title At WrestleMania

via wwe.com

Braun Strowman has been on a rampage in the WWE recently, where he broke through as a terrorizing character last year where he laid many bodies in his path of destruction. Strowman fell short at the Royal Rumble and couldn't win the Universal Championship in the triple threat match, but if rumors are to be believed, he might win another one at the grand stage of WrestleMania. According to rumors, The Monster Among Men is tipped to face The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship at Mania. If this goes through, then Strowman will be favorite to win his first ever WWE Championship, something which can be great for him. Even the IC title can increase his reputation and make him a bigger star, while also keeping the IC Championship a top title on Raw and one can hope this rumor can come true at Mania' this year.

11 True: The Authors Of Pain Get Called Up To SmackDown

via directwrestling.com

The Authors of Pain have been an absolutely destructive tag team on NXT ever since debuting a few years back, with the former NXT Champions having done everything there's is to do with the developmental brand. They recently lost to The Undisputed Era at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia, which probably signaled the end of their stay at NXT. There have been rumors flying around of them being in-line to be promoted to the main roster soon, and it seems that they'll be put in Smackdown Live! when they are given the main roster call. This will be a great move for all parties as Smackdown could really use a fresh, dominating tag team like the Authors of Pain. Also, knowing WWE's love for their powerful, big guys, the two could dominate the land of opportunity, as one can only hope they're promoted to SmackDown where they can raise absolute hell.

10 Not True: Woken Matt And Bray Wyatt Team-Up

via cagesideseats.com

Matt Hardy's feud with Bray Wyatt has definitely been unusual after he was "woken" and debuted his new character in the WWE. He's been having a rather weird feud with Wyatt which includes peculiar promos, but the two don't seem done with each other just yet. At the Royal Rumble PPV, Matt and Bray were in the ring during the Royal Rumble match and actually teamed up to take out a few superstars, before eliminating each other. If fans are to remember, something similar happened with Cesaro and Sheamus last year and the two went on to become an awesome tag team. This may indicate that Matt and Wyatt may be teaming up in the future, which would be pretty awful. It'll ruin both characters' momentum and harm both their chances of shining as singles stars in the near future and hopefully, this rumor doesn't become a reality.

9 True: Shinsuke Nakamura Winning The WWE Championship At WrestleMania

via wwe.com

Shinsuke Nakamura created history by ousting the odds and winning the Royal Rumble this year, giving him the opportunity to headline WrestleMania against none other than "The Phenomenal One" AJ Styles for the WWE Championship. Nakamura gained a lot of momentum from the Rumble win, but WWE has to top it off by making him win the gold at WrestleMania. Something which will be worrisome for Nakamura is that only 3 of the last 9 winners prior to him have actually gone on to win at WrestleMania, but Nakamura needs to change that trend. He's red hot with the fans right now and should be going into Mania with a load of momentum, as rumors of him winning the gold need to be true! Nakamura needs to win the WWE title to become the top star of Smackdown and assert himself as the "king" he truly is.

8 True: Jason Jordan Turns Heel

via twitter.com

Jason Jordan has been gaining quite a lot of heat lately because of his actions and how he's turned himself into this annoying, daddy's boy on Monday Night Raw. He lost the Raw Tag Team Titles with Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble and if rumors are to be believed, then he will mostly turn heel anytime soon before WrestleMania. Jordan can now be a full-fledged heel because of how well the crowd recognize him and can definitely add something more to the product as a heel. He could probably have that match against Kurt Angle if he acts like a heel and could develop into a proper mid-carder if given more freedom as a heel. Despite what one thinks of Jordan, a heel turn can do him a lot of good right now and hopefully the rumors of him turning heel come true soon enough.

7 Not True: Neville's Contract Being "Frozen" By WWE

via wwe.com

The Cruiserweight Division has been going through a bit of turmoil recently after champion Enzo Amore was fired by the WWE amid sexual harassment allegations, but things have been especially bad for former champion Neville, who has completely gone off the grid after walking out on WWE. There were talks between the parties about him returning to WWE, but that seems to have completely soured down as WWE has apparently frozen Neville's contract. This has been done by WWE for Daniel Bryan and Rey Mysterio during long-term injuries, as they do it so that they don't have to pay the superstars but they're employed to them. So Neville is basically still contractually obliged to WWE and his contract isn't even running down. Hopefully, this isn't true as it would be an awful thing for WWE to do, who would be destroying a promising career if they've sabotaged Neville like this.

6 True: Bobby Lashley Works Program With Brock Lesnar

via wrestlingnews.co

Bobby Lashley has become the hottest free agent in the wrestling business after he recently left TNA almost a decade with the company and the former TNA Heavyweight Champion seems WWE-inbound at this point. According to rumors, Lashley had been negotiating with both NJPW(New Japan Pro Wrestling) and WWE but has decided to return to his former employers and has said no to New Japan. Apparently, there are big plans for him upon his return and he might even work a program with none other than the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar. It may happen after WrestleMania, but is something everyone wants to see! Knowing their MMA background, this could be a slobber-knocker and if this rumor turns out to be true(which we hope it does), we could have a monumental match at WWE between two dangerous, legitimate fighters.

5 True: Kevin Owens Vs Sami Zayn At WrestleMania

via skysports.com

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn couldn't prevail in their WWE Championship match against AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble, where they lost the match under controversial circumstances. Zayn would later screw over Tye Dillinger and come into the Royal Rumble match as well but failed to do anything remarkable. That has revealed the cracks in the friendship of Owens and Zayn, which could quickly escalate into hatred as the two are tipped to face each other at the grandest stage of them all aka WrestleMania. This could actually be a great move for both of them, as they could show off their incredible chemistry and ability to churn out memorable bouts at a stage like Mania. One can hope rumors of their match being true, as it can definitely improve their position in WWE and give them the opportunity to show everyone how amazing they can be against each other.

4 Not True: Jeff Hardy Returns As Brother Nero

via commons.wikimedia.org

Jeff Hardy suffered a bad set-back last year when he badly injured his shoulder and had to go through with surgery, which ruled him out of action for months. Hardy did appear in the Raw 25 Anniversary show, but he's still not properly healed to compete in the ring. While he is scheduled to return around WrestleMania season, Jeff is rumored to return as Brother Nero when he does. The fans will remember Brother Nero as "Broken" Matt Hardy's "obsolete mule" in TNA, but he shouldn't be reduced to that when he returns to WWE. Jeff should be kept apart from Matt for a while now and should be given a solid singles push, where some dream matches can become a reality. We can only hope that he doesn't return as "Brother Nero" which will almost certainly be a bust in WWE and ruin his chances at a proper singles run.

3 True: A Women's Elimination Chamber Match

via dailyddt.com

The Women's Revolution has now moved into overdrive in the WWE, which saw the first ever Women's Royal Rumble main-event the Royal Rumble event this year, becoming a historic moment for the women in WWE. But as it seems, WWE isn't just going to stop with this monumental moment as there are many big plans for the Division heading into WrestleMania. Not only are there expected to be multiple, high-profile female matches at WrestleMania, but there's expected to be a Women's Elimination Chamber match at the event. It would also be a first for women in WWE, and knowing the talent on Raw right now, they could pull it off. It could be a great spectacle to see women fight it out in the barbaric Chamber, and fans would hope this rumor to be true because of how terrific the female Elimination Chamber match can turn out to be.

2 True: Elias Receives A Big Push

via wwe.com

Elias has become a very popular superstar in the WWE in the past few months, as it seems almost everyone wants to "Walk With Elias" these days. Despite being that cocky heel who loves to smack-talk whenever he can, Elias has won over many with his work and is rumored to get the boons of it soon. He is supposed to feud with John Cena in the next few months and is apparently in line for a big push after WrestleMania. According to rumors, Elias is probably due for a big push after the grand event because of how he's impressed management. That could mean him winning the Intercontinental Championship or being part of big-time feuds. His fans would want this rumor to be true because he deserves all the success that's coming his way because of his terrific work over the past few months.

1 Not True: Seth Rollins Vs Jason Jordan At WrestleMania

via dailyddt.com

Neither Seth Rollins nor Jason Jordan had a memorable time at the Royal Rumble this year, with the Architect being cruelly eliminated by his own "brother" Roman Reigns in the Tag Team Championship match before losing the Raw Tag Team titles after Jordan suffered an injury during the match. Things have started to go wrong for these two recently and if rumors are to be believed, it could lead to a match between them at WrestleMania. Apparently, Jordan will turn on Rollins which would trigger this match, something which no fan wants to see. Rollins deserves a marquee opponent at Mania and Jordan, despite being a terrific in-ring worker, isn't quite that. WWE should not go through with this match because of how disinterested fans will be towards it and one can hope this rumor is false and Rollins gets a more suitable opponent for the grand event.
