Long-time WWE superstar Randy Orton isn't among the legends scheduled to appear at the Raw 25th Anniversary special this evening. Given the long list of WWE legends returning - and the fact Orton has accomplished a great deal already - it's surprising that the Legend Killer won't be present.
Orton's wife's of two years, Kim, shared this photo on Instagram to express her disgust in his absence:
Can someone pls explain to me how @randyorton isn’t on the Raw 25th anniversary tonight? He’s been on more episode of Raw then anyone besides HHH, Michaels, Taker, Kane and Cena. Impressive list right? So why NOT @randyorton? He’s had some of the most memorable moments in Raw history too. He’s also on the Promo pic but isn’t on the show. Just doesn’t make sense to me. Enjoy the show tonight guys. I’ll be playing MarioKart with my kids
Orton is a two-time World Heavyweight Champion and nine-time WWE Champion. The two-time Royal Rumble winner debuted on Raw in 2002, and provided a handful of iconic moments for the show.
Orton's successful World title defence over Chris Benoit on the Aug. 16 episode of Monday Night Raw is one of them. In that moment, Orton was betrayed and savagely beaten by his Evolution members - starting a feud with Triple H in the process.
There have been countless memorable moments involving Orton on Monda Night Raw over the years. His RKO on Brock Lesnar leading up to their match at SummerSlam 2016 was also great, as was his fight against the Nexus backstage:
The Legend Killer has stayed out of trouble with the WWE over the past year, and hasn't been suspended for a drug violation or anything like that. As such, his absence from tonight's show is hard to understand.
The long list of superstars that'll appear tonight include from members of D-Generation X ,'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler, Kevin Nash, Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair and many more. Orton has had his clashes with a number of those legends. You can easily understand why his wife isn't pleased.
Nonetheless, tonight promises to be a show for the ages. At the end of the day, there is only room for so many superstars to appear. With Orton assigned to the SmackDown Live brand and only wrestling in a part-time role, the creative team didn't have an easy way to slot him in.
