There might not be a better male and female pairing in professional wrestling history than Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth. While there have been husband and wife teams in wrestling, no one caught the world's attention like Savage and Elizabeth. From the moment they arrived together, they were the biggest story in professional wrestling.

The couple went from the mismatched duo to heated rivals, from a manager and wrestler pairing to the greatest wedding in wrestling history. They were part of one of the biggest angles in wrestling with the Mega Powers and even took part in the nWo angle in WCW years later. Through it all, nothing touched wrestling fans like the rise and fall of the Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth.

Randy Savage came up in the territories, working for both his father Angelo Poffo and then in Memphis with Jerry "The King" Lawler. In 1985, WWE brought him in and dubbed him The Macho Man.

The company made a big deal with his signing, letting fans know he was a major player and calling him the top free agent in pro wrestling. The biggest angle at the start of his career came when several managers wanted to represent him in WWE.

In WWE in the '80s, managers were a huge deal. Since so many big wrestlers had talent but not much in mic skills, managers made up for it. Others needed managers to immediately make them instant heels, such as those with Mr. Fuji.

Everyone from Bobby Heenan to Jimmy Hart and Freddie Blassie wanted to manage Savage. However, The Macho Man shocked the world when he introduced his new manager as Miss Elizabeth.

Fans loved Miss Elizabeth, which made Savage a massive heel whenever he mistreated her. The Macho Man's manager wore the nicest dresses and smiled when she came to the ring. She didn't do much in the way of interfering in matches, and she served one purpose.

When Savage wrestled, he would often chastise Miss Elizabeth for something she did or get jealous when another wrestler paid attention to her. Fans loved Elizabeth, so they hated Macho Man Randy Savage.

7 George 'The Animal' Steele

George Steele's in-ring name was quite recognizable in the 1980s

WWE used the entire combustible relationship between Miss Elizabeth and Macho Man Randy Savage to help push various storylines. After Savage used a foreign object to beat Tito Santana for the IC Title, Savage started feuding with Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. However, he also found his hands full with George "The Animal" Steele.

Steele had a school-boy crush on Miss Elizabeth and started to pay more attention to her. He paid her a lot of attention and brought her presents, which drove Savage crazy. He lost his Intercontinental Title to Steamboat in a WrestleMania match where The Animal was at ringside with The Dragon.

Soon, Macho Man turned babyface. This happened when he was feuding with The Honky Tonk Man, who was the new IC Champion. At the time, Jimmy Hart was managing both The Hart Foundation and Honky Tonk Man, and they were beating him down three-on-one on Saturday Night's Main Event.

That's when Elizabeth ran to get Hulk Hogan to save her client. Savage wasn't happy, but this soon formed the Mega Powers, who feuded with Andre the Giant and The Million Dollar Man.

Thanks to his jealousy, Savage soon turned on Hulk Hogan. This happened when Hogan and Savage were in a match with The Twin Towers. Elizabeth took a fall, and Hogan freaked out and carried her to the back, leaving Savage alone in the ring.

Hogan returned, and Savage ended up leaving him alone to finish the match. After this, Savage claimed Hogan wanted to steal Elizabeth, and the two began to fight. This led to WrestleMania V, where Savage lost his world title to Hogan.

After the world title loss, Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan continued to feud and Miss Elizabeth sided with Hulk Hogan. This was the last straw for Savage. After Elizabeth did that, Savage believed the two were working behind his back, and he fired her as his manager.

He then replaced Elizabeth with a new manager in Sensational Sherri Martel. Unlike Elizabeth, Sherri cheated to help Savage all the time, and the two were both hated heels, eventually leading to Randy Savage becoming the Macho King.

3 WrestleMania VII Reunion

After working with Sherri for two years, Randy Savage ended up in a feud with The Ultimate Warrior. Savage wanted a world title shot against Warrior, but the champion refused to grant him one. Finally, Savage had enough and interfered to cost Warrior his title in a match against Sgt. Slaughter.

As a result, they fought at WrestleMania VII in a match where the loser had to retire. Warrior beat Savage, ending his WWE career. After the match, Sherri attacked a beaten Savage and started to tear into him. From the stands, Miss Elizabeth ran in and attacked Sherri, saving Macho Man, and the two reunited in the middle of the ring.

2 SummerSlam: The Match Made In Heaven

This led to the greatest in-ring wedding in professional wrestling history. Macho Man Randy Savage expressed his love for Miss Elizabeth, and they ended up getting married at SummerSlam 1991. It was a huge event with the two exchanging vows in the ring, with no interference.

This ended up leading to Savage coming back as a wrestler to defend his wife's honor when Jake "The Snake" Roberts crashed the wedding reception with a snake in a present box.

1 Ric Flair

The last major feud for Macho Man Randy Savage in WWE was a world title rivalry with Nature Boy Ric Flair. In this feud, Flair used Elizabeth to get under Savage's neck and showed off videos of the two of them together, which were later proven to be faked.

Savage beat Flair for the WWE Championship, but then Elizabeth left professional wrestling for four years. When she returned, it was in WCW, and the Flair-Savage storyline continued there for a short time.
