Macho Man Randy Savage is known as one of the best professional wrestlers in history. That is why it is so surprising to learn that through his career in WWE and WCW, Savage only had seven total title reigns. All but one was for a world title, and a few of them were only mere days as champion, which seems unforgivable for a wrestler as talented as The Macho Man.

Despite that, Savage was always one of the top main event talents. He helped make Hulk Hogan an even bigger star than he already was, his storyline with Miss Elizabeth remains one of the best of all-time, and He made Diamond Dallas Page a star. With such an illustrious career, here is a look at every Randy Savage WCW/WWE title reign, ranked.

7 WCW CHAMPIONSHIP (1999)

WCW was a mess by the time 1999 rolled around. Randy Savage made his return to WCW after undergoing two major knee surgeries, and he wasn't alone, bringing Gorgeous George, Madusa, and Miss Madness with him as Team Madness. At Bash at the Beach, Savage won his fourth and final WCW world title.

The win came in a tag team match where world champion Kevin Nash teamed with Sting to battle Randy Savage and Sid Vicious. Whoever picked up the pinfall victory won the title, and Savage pinned Nash. Savage won the title in a tag team match and lost it one night later to Hollywood Hogan when Nash interfered, making it a one-day reign.

6 WCW CHAMPIONSHIP (1998)

In 1997, Randy Savage was forced into joining the nWo to keep his job, and he turned on Sting and WCW to do so. This put him in the same group as Hollywood Hogan, although the two men still could never get along. It also allowed Savage to get some fresh feuds, the best of which was against Diamond Dallas Page.

Eventually, Savage feuded with Lex Luger, and despite losing to Luger in two straight PPV matches, he got a chance at the WCW world title against Sting. Kevin Nash interfered to help Savage beat Sting for the title at Spring Stampede, the opposite of what happened a year later when Nash cost him the title. Savage lost the title a night later to Hollywood Hogan when Bret Hart interfered to cost him the match — another one-day title reign.

5 WCW CHAMPIONSHIP (1995)

Macho Man Randy Savage made his WCW debut in December 1994 after he quit WWE due to Vince McMahon not wanting Savage to wrestle anymore. He started out befriending Hulk Hogan, and the two had an uneasy alliance that was forgotten once Savage started feuding with Ric Flair again.

At World War 3 in 1995, Savage entered into a 60-man three-ring battle royal with the WCW world championship on the line. Savage won the battle royal and took home his first WCW world title. He held it for a month before losing the title to Ric Flair at Starrcade 1995.

4 WCW CHAMPIONSHIP (1996)

Macho Man Randy Savage won his second WCW world title when he beat Ric Flair less than one month after losing it to him on an episode of Monday Nitro. Savage then shocked the wrestling world when he brought his ex-wife Miss Elizabeth to WCW to be his manager once again.

One month after winning the title from Flair, he lost it back to the Nature Boy at SuperBrawl VI in a steel cage match. It was at this time that Elizabeth turned on Savage and joined up with Ric Flair with that adding fuel to their feud that year. However, that was the end of the line for Savage and the world title until a few years later when he was part of the nWo.

3 WWE CHAMPIONSHIP (1992)

Macho Man Randy Savage had already held the WWE world title one time before he ended up in a feud with new WWE world champion Ric Flair. The Nature Boy had left WCW and joined WWE and won the title in the Royal Rumble match. After this, most people expected Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair to feud for the title, but that never happened.

The story is that Hogan and Flair wrestled in house shows, but their styles clashed, and the matches never clicked. As a result, WWE moved Savage into that spot. Savage had just returned from retirement and entered into the feud with Flair, with Miss Elizabeth playing a significant role in the storyline. The feud culminated at WrestleMania VIII when Savage beat Flair for his second and final WWE world title. The title reign lasted 149 total days.

2 INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP (1986-1987)

When Macho Man Randy Savage entered WWE, he was not thrust into the main event scene. Instead, he worked the mid-card title scene and eventually became a challenger for the Intercontinental Championship. When Savage arrived, all the managers in WWE wanted to manage him, but he brought in Miss Elizabeth to be his manager. His mistreatment of her made him a top-level villain.

That led to Savage winning his first WWE title when he pinned Tito Santana for the WWE Intercontinental Championship by using a foreign object. Savage then took the title and made it more important than it had been in years, including the amazing match where he lost it to Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat at WrestleMania III, considered one of the best matches of all-time. Savage held the title for 414 total days.

1 WWE CHAMPIONSHIP (1988-1989)

While Randy Savage held the Intercontinental Championship for 414 total days, his crowning achievement as a champion was when he won the WWE world title at WrestleMania IV. Savage had to win a tournament to win the title and beat The Natural Butch Reed, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, The One Man Gang, and The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase to win the belt.

He then held the title until WrestleMania V, where he was involved in one of the greatest storylines in WWE history when he formed the Mega Powers with Hulk Hogan and eventually turned on his partner, culminating in a title loss one year later. Savage's first world title reign lasted for 371 days.
