The WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view was first introduced in 2009, and we wrestling fans have been treated to so many hardcore and memorable showdowns ever since.

Since its inception, every TLC pay-per-view has featured a hardcore main event bout- either a chairs match or a tables, ladders, and chairs bout. Some of these main events, of course, have gone down as classics that we continue to talk about to this day.

However, a handful of the TLC main events in the 2010s decade have been far from anything special. For various reasons, these matches just didn't live up to our expectations in any way.

9 9. John Cena vs. Wade Barrett (2010)

Three months after John Cena and his team buried The The Nexus at SummerSlam, he rekindled his feud with Wade Barrett at TLC 2010. They closed out the show in a chairs match, with no championship belts on the line whatsoever.

Everybody knew that Cena was going to win that night. If The Nexus weren't going to get put over at SummerSlam, why believe that Cena was about to lose to Barrett on a big stage? There was never a chance of that happening.

Worst yet, this lackluster match - with no real hype whatsoever - lasted over 19 minutes. It was hard to celebrate after Cena's victory, because the match was boring all around - and this showdown didn't really do much to help Barrett down the road.

8 8. Sheamus vs. Roman Reigns (2015)

This match took place while WWE was still trying to push Roman Reigns as the next face of the company. They hoped that Sheamus - aligned with Barrett, Rusev and Alberto Del Rio - would be strong enough heels to help Reigns get over.

Sheamus' teammates showed up and helped distract Reigns, which allowed him to retain his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. It was a predictable finish to what could have been an exciting match.

And by the way, this didn't really do much to help out Reigns in terms of getting over. What's worse, the entire 2015 show was far from spectacular. Having Sheamus and Reigns close it out like this didn't help matters.

7 7. Dolph Ziggler vs. John Cena (2012)

The 2012 TLC show was actually one of the best WWE pay-per-views in recent memory. Of course, everybody remembers The Shield making their debut here - where they defeated Kane, Daniel Bryan and Ryback in a six-man tag team match.

Now, the main event between John Cena and Dolph Ziggler - for the latter's Money in the Bank contract - wasn't terrible by any means. But it simply didn't have the same overall entertainment and excitement of other matches.

The match also dragged on for far too long, lasting 23 minutes. That said, it was nice to see Ziggler pull off the unlikely victory, especially given how rare it was for Cena to lose matches like that during this time.

6 6. Bray Wyatt vs. Dean Ambrose (2014)

If this match could have just waited a couple of more years, it could have been something of epic proportions. But neither Ambrose or Wyatt were established main event talents at the time; they were merely mid-card performers who shouldn't have closed out a big pay-per-view like this.

Simply put, John Cena vs. Seth Rollins was a far more deserving of being in the main event match. And even then, Ambrose and Wyatt didn't do a whole lot to "wow" us in the tables, ladders, and chairs showdown.

Wyatt came away with the victory, and you can argue that it was a key starting point in helping him move up the ladder in WWE. However, the match didn't really do a whole lot for Ambrose.

5 5. Randy Orton vs. John Cena (2013)

Maybe fans were tired of the John Cena-Randy Orton feud at this point. We've seen the superstars clash time and time again throughout the years, and their in-ring chemistry wasn't anything to get too excited about.

However, their TLC 2013 showdown was an exception - and it marked a major change in WWE history. The winner of the match would become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, as the company decided to unify the two prestigious title belts into one.

And it was only fitting to have Cena and Orton - two established veterans with Hall of Fame resumes - take part in a tables, ladders, and chairs match to determine the winner. Orton came away victorious to become the first holder of the unified championship.

4 4. AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose (2016)

The Phenomenal One and Ambrose rekindled their rivalry at the 2016 TLC pay-per-view - in a a tables, ladders, and chairs match for the WWE Championship. And boy, did they  ever put on an absolute clinic in the ring.

Ambrose and Styles displayed phenomenal pace and in-ring chemistry throughout this match. And better yet, we were treated to an unexpected and surprise ending that wouldn't be forgotten any time soon.

James Ellsworth appeared and helped his friend gain the upper hand. Just as he was about to climb the top and snag the championship belt, however, Ellsworth pushed the ladder over and cost Ambrose dearly. Styles took advantage of the situation and climbed the top to successfully defend his WWE Championship.

3 3. CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. The Miz (2011)

CM Punk, Alberto Del Rio and The Miz squared off in a tables, ladders, and chairs match - with the former putting his WWE Championship on the line. And this, folks, was a prime example of what pay-per-view main event should look like.

The trio of superstars all put on admirable performances in and out of the ring. They laid it all out there, as Miz, Del Rio and Punk all went great lengths to try and outdo the other, and the match came down to the wire.

All three superstars climbed the top of the ladder, but in a finish for the ages, Punk managed to knock both Miz and Del Rio off the top of the ladder -  eventually getting his hands on the belt to retain his WWE Championship.

2 2. The Shield vs. Team Miz (2017)

Roman Reigns suffered a bug and was unable to take part in The Shield's reunion match at TLC 2017. Instead, Raw general manager Kurt Angle teamed up with Ambrose and Seth Rollins as the third Shield member. Their opponents? The Miz, Kane, Sheamus, Cesaro and Braun Strowman in a tables, ladders, and chairs match.

Angle's in-ring return was a sight to behold; he went great lengths to make the match memorable, while the other seven superstars all put on phenomenal in-ring performances in this hardcore showdown.

The Shield got an upper hand when Strowman's four teammates threw him inside a garbage truck, turning it into a 4-on-3 handicap match. Angle then pinned The Miz to help The Shield pull off an unforgettable victory.

WWE truly gave the fans everything they wanted in this match. What could you possibly complain about here?

1 1.Becky Lynch vs. Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair (2018)

10 Best WWE Matches of 2018

This match marked the first women's triple threat tables, ladders, and chairs bout in WWE history, and it turned out to be one of the best matches of the entire decade.

Becky Lynch had to defend her SmackDown Women's Championship against Charlotte Flair and Asuka - who was quickly emerging as the biggest superstar in the company. All three competitors displayed excellent in-ring performances and pace.

At the end, it looked as though Lynch or Flair would win the match as they climbed to the top of the ladder. However, Ronda Rousey - Lynch's archenemy - pushed over the ladder to cost both of them the match. Asuka was able to climb the ladder and snatch the title, destroying all of Lynch's hopes and dreams.

This match checked off every single box you look for in a main event match, and it paved the way for Lynch to rekindle her feud with both Rousey and Flair at WrestleMania 35. Now, if we could just see another TLC match as epic as this one.
