2 Recap

Shane McMahon is out first tonight and is once again in charge of the program. Shane announces a Women's Championship match, a Tag Team #1 Contender's tournament, as well as Sami Zayn challenging A.J. Styles for an opportunity to compete in a Triple Threat match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. This of course brings out Kevin Owens to air his grievances. Owens demands his rematch for the Intercontinental Championship. Shane makes a match between Owens and Cesaro where the winner will in fact receive a shot at the I.C. Title.

Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro

What a fantastic way to kick of the show; with a wrestling match. Kevin Owens and Cesaro help remind fans of the true nature of WWE. In the end, Cesaro picks up the victory.

Backstage: Charlotte complains to Ric Flair about having to defend her title. Dr. Phil (terrible) interrupts to tell Charlotte that he father is holding her back.

Still Backstage: Kevin Owens barks a threat at Shane McMahon and is informed that he will be escorted from the building.

The Dudley Boyz vs. Lucha Dragons (Tournament Match)

The Dudley Boyz looked strong (like the good old days) as they pick up the win and advance.

Post-Match: Enzo Amore and Big Cass interrupt The Dudley Boyz. Bubba Ray lets the duo know that they "paved the way" for guys like Enzo and Cass.

Backstage: Kevin Owens is shown being escorted from the building.

Roman Reigns enters the ring to a hostile reception. Reigns addresses A.J. Styles and Sami Zayn before being interrupted by the League of Nations (this group has run its course). The League make their way down to the ring and attack Reigns but The Wyatt Family arrive and clean house. This brings out Shane who makes a match for later tonight: Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns vs. any two member of The League of Nations.

Charlotte vs. Natalya (Women's Championship)

Natalya is skilled in the ring but should never win the Women's Championship. (More on that below.) Natalya wins this bout via DQ.

Renee Young Interviews Sami Zayn who disuses his underdog status before A.J. Styles places Zayn on notice that he will remain the lone #1 Contender.

The Usos vs. Heath Slater and Curtis Axel (Tournament Match)

Lack of excitement here during the match. The Usos pick up the victory.

Post-Match: Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson arrive to attack The Usos.

Backstage: The Miz and Mayrse are living in "luxury" and are confronted by Cesaro you makes his claim to the Intercontinental Championship.

Sami Zayn vs. A.J. Styles

Two real wrestling matches tonight? Strange times in WWE. Sami Zayn and A.J. Styles provided the fans with quite a show as the bout would go to Styles who remains the sole #1 Contender.

Backstage: Shane McMahon praises both Sami Zayn and A.J. Styles

-The Highlight Reel with Special Guest-

Chris Jericho introduces himself as his "special guest." Jericho proceeds to interview himself while putting over his accomplishments. Jericho is eventually paid a visit from Dean Ambrose who "takes over the show" with a memo from Shane McMahon stating that "The Highlight Reel" has been cancelled and replaced with the "Ambrose Asylum." Jericho and Ambrose exchange words and fists with Ambrose coming out on top.

Apollo Crews vs. Adam Rose

Apollo Crews is an excellent athlete (it's too bad Vince McMahon will never get behind a push). Of course, Crews went over on Adam Rose.

Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio

Hard-fought match but with the action from Owens-Cesaro and Zayn-Styles setting the tone tonight, it was difficult to get invested in the slower-paced main event. However, Bray Wyatt looked great in the wake of losing his grandfather (Blackjack Mulligan). Eventually, Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman make their way to ringside as Wyatt scores the pinfall.

Post-Match: Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns bring the show to a conclusion with a stare-down.

1 Going Forward

It's time to solidify Women's wrestling in WWE. However, anybody who serves as a cast member on Total Divas should not touch the championship. Reality stars are reality stars; women wrestlers are women wrestlers. (Sorry Paige and Natalya.)

With Roman Reigns sets to place the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line against A.J. Styles, suddenly every wrestling fan can predict the future: Styles will not capture the main strap in WWE. (Look for the I.C. Title some day.)

How much longer will the Shane McMahon-feeling float around on Monday Night Raw?
