The never-ending WWE season continued on this week following a lackluster display seven day ago. So, was Monday Night Raw any better this week?
Here's how it all went down:
The New Day open tonight's show. The three men take time to insult the Pittsburgh crowd while engaging in their own personal "celebration." They then introduced the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Sheamus who in turn joins the celebration. Sheamus thanks The New Day and The Authority before sarcastically thanking Roman Reigns for not accepting Triple H's handshake. Sheamus continues to celebrate but is met by Reigns and a big Superman Punch. Reigns then leaves with the title.
Backstage: Triple H and Stephanie approach Roman Reigns; asking for the title back. Reigns hands it over to Stephanie and Triple H informs Reigns that Sheamus wants to defend the title tonight on Raw with the added stipulation that Reigns must win the match in under 5:15. (The total time Reigns was champion last week.)
Tyler Breeze vs. Dolph Ziggler
Solid back-and-forth match between these two pretty-boy-performers. The finish would see Dolph Ziggler score the Super Kick for the win.
-Miz TV with Lana and Rusev-
Rusev discusses how nobody cared about him while he was out injured; except for Lana who explains how she has forgiven Rusev. Lana and Rusev claim that they did not "go all the way with Dolph Ziggler and Summer." They make out for a minute and are interrupted by Ryback ... and a match is made.
Ryback vs. Rusev
BLAH! ... Short match. Rusev is counted on when he checks on Lana who was accidentally knocked over.
Backstage: Triple H congratulates Dean Ambrose on becoming the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown and informs Ambrose that should Reigns prove unsuccessful tonight, he will lose that opportunity.
The Dudley Boyz call out The Wyatt Family ... Bray Wyatt accepts on behalf of his family. When The Dudley's appear out numbered they call out some family of their own: Tommy Dreamer.
The Dudley Boyz and Tommy Dreamer vs. The Wyatt Family
Not much here as the referee would eventually lose control. This is obviously going to lead to a Tables match next month.
Alberto Del Rio vs. Goldust
Throw away match here: did you expect Goldust to win? Because he didn't.
Backstage: Becky Lynch suggests to Charlotte that they have a friendly match. Ric Flair appears for a few quick WOOO's.
Lucha Dragons vs. The Usos (#1 Contender's Match)
Fairy exciting match with was disrupted by The New Day causing the double DQ.
Backstage: Stephanie informs Lucha Dragons that they will have a shot at the titles at TLC and The Usos as well; provided their cousin Roman Reigns is successful tonight.
Sasha Banks vs. Brie Bella
Sasha Banks looked great as always as "The Boss" would force Brie Bella to tap out.
Sheamus vs. Roman Reigns (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)
As expected, Roman Reigns did not win the title but did not lose the match as it would result in a DQ. (Interference from King Barrett, Rusev, and Alberto Del Rio)
Post-Match: Sheamus introduces a new stable: "The League of Nations."
Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch
Good match here: "friendly" competition would favour Charlotte as a fake injury would help her score the victory.
Backstage: Becky Lynch approaches Charlotte about her victory. Charlotte claims that is was simply "tough love."
The League of Nations and The New Day vs. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and The Usos
This match was way too crowded: decent spots here and there but nothing overtly spectacular. Sheamus fittingly scores the pinfall.
Something is missing in WWE right now. Hopefully, heading into the new year, somebody will figure something out and provide the product with a spark.
The League of Nations? This could be interesting if they are presented properly.
It's good to finally see some friction between Becky Lynch and Charlotte with Paige still lurking around. However, this picture still needs Sasha Banks.
