Keith Lee was definitely the MVP of this year's Survivor Series, both with the fans and his peers and bosses backstage.

There were a fair few stand out performances at Survivor Series on Sunday out, most of which came courtesy of NXT Superstars. The black and gold brand defied all the odds and won the night, winning four cross-brand matches while Raw and SmackDown could only manage three wins combined. WWE will be hoping that turns the tide in the Wednesday Night War.

Winning midweek ratings wasn't the only reason WWE made sure NXT's Superstars shone brightest at Survivor Series. The whole reason NXT was started was to create and mold Superstars for the future. That has never been more evident than it was on Sunday night. First via Rhea Ripley's performance, and then later in the night courtesy of Keith Lee.

For a while, it seemed as if Tomasso Ciampa was going to be NXT's last man standing in the men's elimination match. However, when it came down to one versus one versus one, Lee was the only one left from Full Sail. The athletic big man stood in the ring with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns and it was pretty clear Lee was the favorite of the three with the in-house fans.

If Lee wasn't a star before, he certainly is now, even if he did eventually lose to Reigns. According to Wrestling News, higher-ups backstage are very impressed with Lee, especially after Sunday night. Most importantly, those impressed with the NXT star include Vince McMahon. "This was his night to show everyone what he can do. Vince likes him and I think he’ll be on Raw or SmackDown in a few months," a WWE source told the site.

Despite Lee's talent, he has been experiencing something of a slow burn since signing for NXT. Triple H knows how McMahon's mind works better than anyone, and this might well have been a case of The Game saving Lee for the main roster. If so, he has done a terrific job. We've already seen Lee confront Reigns and Braun Strowman. If you ask us, it'll be a lot less than a few months before he switches brands.
