WWE superstar Matt Hardy posted a cryptic Tweet on Tuesday which strongly indicated that he's preparing to leave the company once his contract expires.

In the tweet, Hardy mentioned that he "repaid my debt" and that he's "at peace." With his contract running up in the new year, it's easy to believe that Hardy was simply bidding farewell to the WWE Universe.

Matt's wife, Reby Hardy, responded to the tweet with a big-time shot at WWE - accusing them of looking to "rub it in" his face whenever the opportunity presents itself. You can see the tweet below (WARNING, contains profanity).

These two tweets are strong hints that Hardy is indeed going to leave WWE. There isn't any reason to believe that this is merely part of a storyline, either, seeing how Matt was essentially used as a jobber in his last two matches - both losses to Buddy Murphy and Drew McIntyre.

Hardy and his brother Jeff returned to WWE as a tag team at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, where they became the new Raw Tag Team Champions. Three years later, and it seems as though this is the end for the legendary duo in the WWE.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com recently reported that Hardy and WWE were talking about a new contract, and though money wasn't the main issue, the future Hall of Famer was more worried about how he would be used.

The 45-year-old Hardy has dealt with various injuries throughout his career, too. Wherever he competes in 2020, it's safe to believe that Hardy will be used in a part-time role.

There Will Be Plenty Of Interest In Hardy

There will be plenty of options on the table for Hardy. He could always go back to Impact Wrestling, where he competed before rejoining WWE in 2017. Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and AEW should all come calling as well. Now, it's been said that AEW isn't interested in adding more former WWE talents, but Hardy is a future Hall of Famer that they could have a tough time passing on. If Hardy becomes available, AEW should be all over trying to sign him.
