Unlike other forms of entertainment, WWE decides to air their product live. Whether it be for RAW, SmackDown, a PPV or kick-off show. The company really doesn’t get enough credit for this. Despite the aspect of live television they really manage to minimize the mistakes. Say what you want about the product but in terms of production, it doesn’t get that much more polished than WWE.

That said, we still see mistakes from time to time. Unlike prior generations, mistakes are a lot harder to spot. Thanks to social media platforms like Twitter however, WWE fans don’t miss much whether it be an in-ring blunder or something falsely stated by Michael Cole. WWE needs to be at their absolute best every telecast as fans are always watching and waiting for something to go awry.

20 Dean Saves Renee’s Phone

via wwe.com

Renee Young likely gave her husband a big hug following a recent episode of RAW. During Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins' Intercontinental Championship match, the two took the bout to the commentary booth. This is when things got kind of funny.

During the commentary table spot, Renee left her phone behind. Thankfully, just before Dean took the pin he was able to snatch Renee’s phone out of the way and launch it to Michael Cole. One has to think had that been Corey Garves' phone, Dean wouldn’t have hesitated to go right through it. Given it was his wife’s phone, he went out of character for a sneaky little move.

19 Nia Jax Says She's 300.5 Ounces

via wwe.com

Even in an era of scripted promos WWE stars still manage to make mistakes. In their defense, it isn’t the easiest to remember an entire dialogue just hours before a live show. Making a blunder is only normal from time to time.

During a recent episode of RAW, Nia Jax fell victim to some bashing online. This time, it was because of a botched promo. Nia referred to herself as a “300.5 ounces.” That’s definitely not what she wanted to say as 300 ounces converts to 19 pounds. Ronda Rousey instantly caught on and was smiling in the background.

18 Ref Stops The Count On Hardy In Match Versus Joe

via WWE

Not even the referees are perfect. They’re also prone to mistakes every now and then. One of those errors recently took place on an episode of SmackDown Live. Both Jeff Hardy and Samoa Joe were battling on the outside. Joe finally gained the upper hand while sliding in the ring.

At that point the count was at eight. Inexplicably, the ref decided to stop the count on Hardy and restart from one. Joe was incensed as he was two seconds away from a win. Graves also bashed the ref’s blunder.

17 Ali Apologizes To Bryan After Hitting Finisher

via wwe.com

When a performer hits a top rope finisher, in all likelihood, the adversary’s going to feel a bit of it. Jeff Hardy attested to this, claiming his Swanton Bomb landed splat on various opponents throughout the years.

During Mustafa Ali’s massive victory in a Tag match against WWE Champion Daniel Bryan, Ali hit his signature 054 Splash for the win. Looking at the move, Ali got all of it and then some. During the victory pin, cameras zoom in on the cover and you can hear Ali saying “sorry, Bryan.”

16 Kane’s Mask Comes Flying Off In Tag Match

via wwe.com

This main event match was reminiscent to something we might see in WCW – a total mess featuring wrestlers that are well past their primes. From loud communication to botched maneuvers, this match had it all but for the wrong reasons.

Making matters worse, during a particular spot, HBK accidentally knocks off Kane’s mask while they’re battling on the top rope. Cameras quickly zoom out and avoid showing Kane without the mask. He had to go outside and retrieve it while the hard camera just kept looking at Michaels who had a blank stare in his eyes.

15 Ref aids Becky During Table Spot

via wwe.com

We credit veteran referee Mike Chioda for his efforts in this spot. He was real sneaky. However, WWE fans don’t miss a thing and Chioda was caught.

During the Women’s Evolution bout between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, Lynch powerbombed Flair threw the table from on top of the apron. There’s a reason Lynch didn’t fall off the apron and that was because ref Mike Chioda was secretly holding onto her gear while she performed the move. Nice try Mike, you almost got us.

14 Ref Aids Becky Again

via wwe.com

Mike’s contributions didn’t stop there. Seriously, this match should have been a handicap bout given the amount of spots he helped Becky with!

In this particular instance, Lynch was trapped in the Figure 8. In order for her to get out of this spot, she was supposed to bash Charlotte with a chair. The only problem, the chair was all that way on the other side of the ring. Becky struggled to get the chair and when the camera turns away, we can see it suddenly getting a lot closer. Again, Chioda helped Lynch kicking the chair when nobody was watching.

13 MSG Main Event Mistake

via wwe.com

It was a special December event at Madison Square Garden. For the first time ever, the women main evented the show. The final bout featured a TLC rematch with Asuka, Charlotte and Becky involved.

Thankfully for the performers, it wasn’t televised so making a mistake wasn’t as bad. However, fans are always recording and they caught this bad mistake by Asuka. In the spot, she was supposed to springboard off Charlotte and land a heel kick onto Lynch. Instead, she slipped off Charlotte resulting in a botched kick to Lynch.

12 The Slap and The Apology

via wwe.com

Ruby Riott and Natalya had a stellar feud going during the late stages of 2018. It all culminated with a match at the TLC PPV. During the bout, Natalya landed a stiff slap to Riott’s face. After the spot, cameras catch Natalya asking Riott if she was okay. That’s a bad blunder considering the heat of the slap.

However, the veteran that she is, Natalya just wanted to make sure all was well with her opponent. Riott even answered “yes,” another mistake the camera crew caught in the predicament.

11 Ref Botches The Rope Break In Styles and Joe Cage Match

via WWE

During the special Starrcade event, long-time rivals Samoa Joe and AJ Styles battled it out inside of a steel cage. Given the value of such a match, it is best to keep the mistakes at a minimum. AJ and Joe as expected were perfect in the bout, however it was the ref that a made a total mess of things.

During the match, Joe gets his foot on the ropes during a pin. Wisely so, the ref doesn’t acknowledge the foot on the rope and Joe is forced to kick out. Later, AJ gets Joe in the Calf Crusher. Joe reaches the rope and the ref asks AJ for a break of the hold. An irate AJ yells at the ref for his decision. Graves also gave it to the ref from the commentary booth.

10 Cole Says Angle’s Last In-Ring Appearance Was At WrestleMania

via WWE

WWE has a way of creating their own history. Time and time again, fans online find holes with the things that Michael Cole has to say.

This time around, we believe Cole made this mistake on his own. While commentating during the Kurt Angle vs. Dolph Ziggler matchup, Cole makes the claim that Angle’s last match prior to that was at WrestleMania. He could not have been more wrong as Angle also fought in the Greatest Battle Royal along with an appearance as The Conquistador.

9 Fox Late To The Party

via twitter.com

In Alicia Fox's defense, she was a late addition to this match, taking Alexa Bliss' place. Nonetheless, she should have done better during this failed spot.

Trish Stratus hit her signature move on Mickie James. The pin was supposed to be broken up by Fox, however she was late to the party. Cameras even caught James calling for Fox during the pin. She broke up the cover way too late and fans also caught on as the ref delayed the three cover so that Fox could interrupt the count.

8 WWE Ignores Kick-Off Show Match In Survivor Series Score

via wwe.com

It was a clean sweep for RAW during the Survivor Series PPV. But, was it? Fans grew frustrated online with WWE’s blunder. During the pre-show, SmackDown Live pulled out a victory in a bout featuring tag team combos from the brands.

Despite the win, WWE acted like it never took place. In truth, they probably forgot and once they realized, the damage was already done. This is a mistake that shouldn’t have went down. At the very least, they should have at least given SD Live the point later in the show.

7 Nobody Catches HBK

via wwe.com

Without even exaggerating, we could have done an article alone on botches that went down in the main event Tag match at the Crown Jewel. This was yet another mistake fans might not have caught thanks to a well-timed camera edit. However, during Shawn Michaels' spot attempting a moonsault to the outside, both Kane and The Undertaker failed to catch him.

During the Edge and Christian podcast, Shawn stated that he really hurt his nose during the exchange, hitting it face first onto the floor. Fans shouldn’t wonder why HBK’s not coming back for another match.

6 Ziggler Doesn't Have His Facts Straight

via wwe.com

Perhaps due to his longevity in the business, Dolph Ziggler appears to be carefree during promos. That's both a pro and con as we’ve seen him mess up in the past.

During this particular promo cut on Seth Rollins, Ziggler makes the claim that he defeated Rollins at SummerSlam. Casual fans might have missed that mistake but hardcore WWE fans did not. What Ziggler meant to say is that he beat Rollins at Extreme Rules, not SummerSlam. Rollins actually defeated Ziggler in the SumerSlam match.

5 Charlotte Launches Microphone In The Crowd

via wwe.com

During a heated promo and exchange on SmackDown Live, Charlotte Flair might have been a little too in character during this predicament. As she’s walking down the stage noticing that her microphone doesn’t work, Charlotte chucks it into the crowd. Making matters worse, she hits a young fan with the microphone.

It all happened so fast that fans didn’t even notice the microphone to begin with. Though that poor fan certainly did. Maybe next time smash the microphone on the floor instead of throwing it to the side.

4 Kofi Slips Out Of The Ring During The SmackDown Live Halloween Special

via WWE

SmackDown Live just seems to do everything better in comparison to RAW. Even the Halloween special was a lot of fun. The New Day made the show that much more memorable as they came out dressed as The Brood.

Following the melee, an overly enthusiastic Kofi Kingston proceeds to leave the ring. Just as the camera starts to cut, we get a little snippet of Kofi falling off the apron. Now most fans might have missed it but thanks to Graves laughing at commentary we knew something went down. Just minutes later, Twitter was abuzz with footage of Kofi completely botching his ring exit.

3 Failed Women’s Table Spot In Chile

via wwe.com

We’ve seen this time and time again with both the men and women. Tables don’t always give out. It takes a good amount of weight along with the proper force for it to actually break.

During an event in Chile, Natalya attempts to powerbomb Sarah Logan off the turnbuckle onto the table. You know where we’re going with this. The table didn’t give out and poor Logan just stayed there, defenceless. Wisely, the veteran Nattie climbed the top rope and finished the job. Thankfully, it didn’t go down on live TV but during a non-televised overseas event instead.

2 Triple H Tells HBK He Tore His Peck During Match

via wwe.com

During the Crown Jewell match, both Shawn Michaels and Triple H take a breather on the outside. This is quite common. However, this breather seemed a little weird as it was taking forever. Again, bad camera work caused this mistake as we can hear Triple H telling HBK that he tore his peck.

We can imagine what was going through Shawn’s mind at that point. Not only was he out of the ring for years but now he was forced into taking the brunt of hard bumps because of Triple H’s injury.

1 Rollins and Ziggler Talk About Clock During Match

via WWE

This match should have been a classic but thanks to a darn clock it was completely ruined. Fans counted down from ten during the final seconds of each minute. WWE officials weren’t happy, so much so that they took the clock off the screen.

That was a big mistake as the fans chanted even louder. During the chaos of it all, you can see Seth Rollins and Dolpg Ziggler discussing the situation during a submission hold. Rollins tells Ziggler the crowd reaction is even worse since they took off the clock, Ziggler responds by agreeing with Rollins. What a nightmare that was for those two men.
