Despite its absence at Royal Rumble, WWE continues to use the red lighting for Bray Wyatt matches.

Almost everything WWE does nowadays is picked apart by fans. The Lana/Bobby Lashley storyline was branded ridiculous, and pretty much everyone is sick of the endless angle between Roman Reigns and King Corbin. Over the course of the last 12 months, the only thing wrestling fans can't appear to find a problem with is Bray Wyatt's portrayal of The Fiend.

Even when WWE does seem to have taken a wrong turn with The Fiend, it somehow manages to right ship shortly after. Wyatt's match against Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell, for example. WWE received a lot of backlash after that match but settled the waters by having The Fiend defeat Rollins shortly after at Crown Jewel.

There is one element of Wyatt's latest persona fans appear to be collectively against. The red lights that fill the arena during his matches. It makes the match hard to see for fans in the arena, watching at home, and must be a nightmare for the wrestlers in the ring. That's why the wrestling world breathed a collective sigh of relief when the red light was nowhere to be seen at Royal Rumble.

Annoyingly, the red light doesn't seem to be gone for good. After this week's SmackDown, Wyatt competed against Corbin in a dark match. During the match, the ring was bathed in red light. Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the same was true of last week's SmackDown dark match between The Fiend and The Miz. The belief is that Bryan asked for the red lights to be switched off at Royal Rumble.

The red light might continue to make appearances off TV, but hopefully, fans will have seen the last of it on-screen. Considering one of the reasons Goldberg is coming back for another match is to erase the memory of his terrible but with The Undertaker, we can't imagine he will be eager to compete under a red light. If Goldberg knows about the red light, then we would hazard to guess he'll be requesting it not light the ring for his match at Super ShowDown.
